⏵ June State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello, Etrayans! We hope you enjoyed your time at Summer Camp! Or if your character had the fun of going off to Solmara, we hope they enjoyed fighting beasts, and convincing Borealis to come out of hiding! For this application round, we have opted to keep them open an additional week. We announced this over plurk, but realize not everyone checks there! Their new closure date will be July 4th. This will not impact our log or posting schedule at all. In addition, as of today, June 27th, the X-Men cast is no longer under cap. We've got our arrival mingle going up later today to welcome new characters! Please keep an eye out for it. On July 11th, our mission announcement and plotting post will be going up. We do want to note that this next mission will be off world, and we intend for its' duration to be four weeks. As always, we strive to be flexible and build our missions up to suit our player base/characters currently in game, so if we need to slow it down some or put up any additional logs mid-mission, we may check in with our players during to get a feel on if that would help any. Our last feedback post went up on June 19th with our next coming up on September 18th - but we welcome feedback throughout the year regardless of if there's a specific post asking for it! You are always welcome to comment to our older feedback posts with any concerns, comments, or ideas of what we can do to improve the game. We can't promise to bring everything into play, but we do listen to the ideas that have been brought our way and have implemented many player suggestions in the past. CHARACTER: Jonathan Crane | The Dark Knight Trilogy

CHARACTER INFO: Crane is a polite and reserved intellectual whose sadistic nature hides behind a civil exterior. His authority as chief of psychiatry allowed him to terrify his patients and hide his involvement in crime. His expert testimony shielded gangsters from prison and was well regarded in legal circles. He is a brilliant scientist who loves the thrill of research. He just happens to get his kicks by experimenting on people without their consent.

He has a severe inferiority complex and indulges in mental manipulation but will be presenting as a polite and amicable therapist. But because he is who he is, please check his permissions and contact me if you have questions.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: The biggest theme I plan on exploring is what Crane will do removed from Gotham. Will he indulge in crime and manipulation or be functional in society? Are there people who can keep him on the straight and narrow? I want to explore who he is beneath the mask. Crane is the mask he wears, Scarecrow is the man behind it. I would love to explore the psychology of that.

Crane has been in Etraya for two months. He keeps a low profile but is secretly manufacturing shimmer and running a criminal enterprise with Silco. They plan to produce shimmer and market it to those without powers who need assistance on missions. Crane oversees research and development. Silco manages resources and marketing. This partnership will push his academic curiosity down a dangerous path: shimmer combined with fear toxin. Everything will be fine.

ABOUT YOU: Fandoms always change, having a moment here with Love and Deepspace (the lore is wild and I'm so amused), played Dragon Age the Veilguard last year when it came out and had a wonderful time, am reading Ballad of Sword and Wine along with Lout of Count's Family, I enjoy all kinds of media include original! Tagging wise, I can be swift or slowed down, but try to get out a round of log tags every other day. Text is quicker, just by its nature.

CHARACTER INFO: Alex is a generally more positive person who is definitely going to rush into troubled situations because she strongly believes in protecting others, and has the ability to do so, so why wouldn't she? She's basically a jock otome protag who also loves to look pretty when she's having down time, enjoys crane games perhaps a little too much, and will Be Here For You because that's what you do even if someone is kind of shady. It's not that she's that trusting (grandmas, however, she might be too trusting of depending on circumstances), and she's more wary of people than she tends to let on on the surface.

Please lets get into shenanigans! Let her be your fight/adventure buddy! It's her job back home and she's ready to overwork and overtrain here too, because who wouldn't? She's 23-24 and ready to continue making questionable decisions, as you do. No, she's never dated, and yes, you should be questioning her relationships with the guys in her life, because boy even just playing from the Main Storyline has some wild moments. Very... wild... moments.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Alex definitely is your sci-fi protag, so with her I'd love horror, mystery, actiony adventures, or "this is your fake identity/family unit and sell it to discover whatever we need." She would be interested in plots that investigate Echo's motivations, as well as exploring Etraya beyond the bubble city/region they're in.

CHARACTER INFO: Noelle is from the Weird Route/Snowgrave Route of Deltarune, though she's specifically from chapter 4 after the route's been abandoned. So while interacting with her will def have spoilers for the Snowgrave route, I won't spoil for much of anything beyond that chapter!

Noelle herself is a kind, gentle girl with some self-esteem issues and a nervous disposition, though since her "weird dream" she's become a bit more bold. She's the smartest girl in class, can use incredibly powerful/deadly ice spells, and just wants to go home and go on a date with Susie and maybe get bullied by her a lil bit is that too much to ask for??

She's also a reindeer monster in a world where Monsters and Humans coexist, though most don't see humans that often-- Kris is the only human Noelle has ever known and they've been acting a bit Off lately....... Weird.

But generally Noelle is just Doing Her Best at all times and wants to be a reliable, helpful person, and has a hard time telling people 'no' that aren't her father or Kris.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I'd love for Noelle to get involved in making More Friends mostly--Other monsters! other humans! WDYM battle mechanics are different here and you can't flirt with your enemy and then SPARE them? WDYM humans can't just rip their SOULs out for Reasons like "Narrative Purpose" or whatever?? Crazy.

CHARACTER: Hawks from My Hero Academia

CHARACTER INFO: Hawks is Japan's number two hero. He tends to be confident and can come across as gregarious, playful and flirty because that's his public persona. It's been carefully curated by committee as he was essentially designed for his role. Realistically he's a little less outgoing and far more introspective than he lets on. He's a clever guy. He's deeply idealistic about making the world a better place and he's passionate about altruistically helping people. He's naturally optimistic.

Can't miss him, he has huge red wings on his back. He controls all of his feathers telekinetically, and can do quite a few things with them, some of which he keeps under wraps. He's also blink and you'll miss him fast in flight.

I would really like for him to actually connect to people, which is not something he's able to/allowed to do at home, and you know, maybe get some nice things. That and maybe enjoy some freedom while he has it.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I'm definitely down to do pretty much everything. Hawks is the type of character who will likely try and dig into places where he is not wanted. It's his job, you understand.

CHARACTER INFO: He is a grumpy and judgmental sort who absolutely thinks he knows better than majority of people, though he is quick to downplay what good he does for people. He will claim he has no interest in getting involved in the shenanigans of others. He has a sharp tongue and isn't worried about what others think of him in terms of manners, though he has a pretty unbending set of principles that he holds himself to, and he values his cultural views above all others. For all his dismissal and grump, he is also a slave to sentiment, and his empathy is actually his Achilles heel, and so he can be bullied by those he pities and sees as helpless. He's the type of guy who will help someone and bitch at them the whole time he's helping them because how dare you make him help you he is SO busy he has OTHER THINGS TO DO, but by god you will be helped!

His future self's atrocities are his future self's sins, he may one day catch up with them...
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I am interested in playing Emet-Selch figuring things out in Etraya and also trying to make their little terrarium...better? He already has a lot on his plate being of the Convocation of Fourteen and from his current canon point (he's from Ktisis Hyperboreia, iykyk), so he will be taking all of this extremely seriously...but also, as far as he's concerned, he's about the only person here. I think that will be a fun little clash to play out, especially as he can peep people's souls and whatnot, making little notes of their soul densities and the like.

ABOUT YOU: Hi Etraya, I'm back! You may remember me from before as Dick Grayson/Nightwing (riskfalling) or Sharon Carter (daughterofliberty). Currently in a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 chokehold, so I'm bringing in one (1) nerdy engineer. My work is majority content creation so there are times where I step back a bit from RP due to writing All The Words at work, and my pace varies wildly between boomeranging when I can and on the slower side depending on rl stuff. I generally don't do too much network stuff, but Gustave would probably find it fascinating, so you may find me there more than before.

Please note that Gustave's canon is brand new and he comes with major spoilers for Act 1. I'll be adding spoiler tags for his stuff, but please just let me know if you are or are not comfortable with spoilers and we'll work around it!

CHARACTER: Gustave, from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, aka the very beautiful, very sad French RPG that came out a couple months ago.

CHARACTER INFO: Gustave is a kind-hearted, determined engineer-turned-expeditioner who was previously on a different quest to save his world from inevitable destruction. He's coming in without any previous canon CR aside from one other castmate (there's another castmate but it's... complicated...), and the isolation along with the reality of his situation is going to hit him pretty hard. However, Gustave is an innovative problem solver, and he has a major driving force in the form of his family and friends back home, whom he would do anything for, so he's going to be deadset on saving the world for them.

Outside of the overarching plot, he's friendly, with a warm and curious personality, and has a particular soft spot for children and young people. He'll probably be interested in putting together a workshop to tinker in, and will be looking to make friends and allies.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Gustave will be very interested in the worlds outside Etraya and why they've all been brought here! His focus will be on his own world, but he has very strong feelings about outside influences threatening the survival of entire worlds, so he's likely to want to help others, too. I'm interested in plots where various elements of his skill set can come into play — engineering/science, combat, emotional intelligence and soft skills — and where he can expand his CR circle.

CHARACTER: Verso | Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
CHARACTER INFO:

Verso can seem shady when a person first meets him. He has an ease and charm to him, however, but there is the obvious feeling that he's hiding something from everyone. Yet there is an "openness" about his person, he's willing to answer any question posed to him. Granted, he may be a little elusive when it comes to the answer. But there's a playfulness to how he acts and talks that begs the person talking to him to join in on the banter.

Being immortal, he is willing to shield and protect others around him with his body. He can control his own healing, after all. So, while he may seem untrustworthy, there is genuinely kind nature to him that makes others, at least, feel a little more comfortable around him. Because he is speaking truthfully, but omitting "the truth" is always lying. And most people get that sense when he's talking; they at least feel like they know what he wants even if they don't know his motives.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Anything is fine with me. Unlike the other two losers, Verso actually has high charisma. He gets along with pretty much anyone. He's trying to figure out his place in everything. He'll also be interested in people talking to Renoir, but yeah, that can be for spoiler reasons. (laughs) He's just trying to figure out what he's doing right now ... bit listless, but he's already decided he's in for a penny, in for a pound, to ensure his universe survives.

If anyone wants something put into Verso's hammerspace from the Gold Saucer, plot with me. He is already stealing a grand piano and the arena weapons, lol.

There is some content warning with him related to spoilers and also suicidal ideation. I don't believe it is something that'd come up necessarily in brackets unless specific something triggers it, but just a general warning.

CHARACTER: Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI. He’s a good boy who just wants to help people and fight god.
CHARACTER INFO: Clive is friendly, but can be a bit intimidating at first glance. He has resting ‘contemplating the world and the meaning of life’ face so he can be a bit intense-seeming at first glance. He has a knack for making allies wherever he goes and goes out of his way to help people regardless of whether he knows them or not. He is also a total badass and can kick butt six ways from Sunday. Clive is a dedicated person who loves openly and, above all, never gives up. Once he has decided he is going to do something, he is going to do it. Period. He’s got that mad main character energy that way.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Gimme horror and pain! But sprinkle in some nice soft/funny stuff in the middle so I don’t cry too much. I love complex lore and solving mysteries. I love the ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’. Character relationships are very important to me and maintaining interest in what I am doing.

ABOUT YOU: I'm an early childhood teacher in future kiwiland. I've been peering at this game for a while and debating on who to app and. Uh. Well, all the merch for the anniversary just reminded me how much I adore this little guy. Which is to say. I love rpgs. I also adore animation, manga, and generally story-based video games. I have a particular fondness for red pandas and was an extra in the Hobbit films. Does that count as an interesting fact???

CHARACTER: Vivi Ornitier from Final Fantasy IX.
CHARACTER INFO: Vivi is a baby. Which is to say, he's technically like. A few months old, but physically is about nine years old. He's also a black mage, which means he essentially controls elemental magic and things like poison/sleep to support his friends in battle using his staff.

He's shy, clumsy, and really gullible, but he's getting more confident and learning more about the world since meeting Zidane and the others. His whole journey is basically around finding out more about himself/the other black mages. He is a prototype that fell off the airship and was initially raised to...er....be eaten, except he never grew any bigger and his 'grandpa' died before he ate the little guy. Vivi is gradually learning to take each day as it comes and to make the most of every minute, since he learns that black mages tend to live for about a year. I love this game, but do not let the cuteness fool you, guys, it's. Heavy.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Vivi is curious and new so. Basically anything and everything, really. I'd love for him to make friends with other non-humans. Other mages. Others to little bro at? Talk magic with? Want someone to fall for a prank/joke or take advantage of how gullible someone is? Vivi is probably the one.

He's also a fairly shameless showboat (honestly what would anyone expect from a former circus kid that was adopted by none other than Bruce Wayne) but he genuinely cares The Most about his friends and family and helping people because that's not just a job, it's his mission in life. That said he sticks to his metaphorical guns on morality, so that can get very friction-y with types that are willing to do a little murder and such to accomplish a goal.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: A little bit of everything really! I like to even out the fluffy stuff with more tense, dramatic interludes, and Dick is a very flexible character (lol) as far as getting involved in just about anything, so I'm looking forward to letting him do what he does best as well as stretch out and get into the best/worst the the multiverse has to offer.

I was late to the TDM party, but based on his Leap of Faith prompt, I can see some kind of friendly competitive thing (with Clea always losing ;-;). She's a dancer, also has showboating tendencies, and is extremely competitive. She's also jealous of the circus kids. (In her time aerial arts still had no nets and were like...done in people's swimming pools and unfortunately she had parents who cared that she would have cracked her head open.)

It might be fun until Dick realizes she's one of those 'types that are willing to do a little murder and such to accomplish a goal'... oops.

CHARACTER INFO: Clea Dessendre is a menace to society.

Oh, more than that?

Clea is an artist from fantasy Fin de siècle Paris, where painters have the ability to create literal pocket worlds inside of their Canvases. Clea is a woman whose soul is dedicated to the mastering of the arts. She's a skilled Painter. She dances beautifully. She plays the harp exquisitely. She sings. She has all of the refinement one might expect of a rich, artistic Frenchwoman from the early 20th century... and she also solves all of her problems with the threat of violence and is more than happy to engage in fisticuffs or a duel in the street.

She's also kind of the stone age predecessor of the goths in that she has a fascination with the weird, eerie, and macabre. She loves the broken, the abandoned, the strange and the unusual. The more unconventional and offputting, the better. This extends to people. Are you weird and interesting? Good.

Right now, Clea is in the throes of very raw grief and most of it comes out as anger. Alas. The rest is repressed. Let her be extra at you, or engage in some 'friendly' competition. She's extremely competitive and a perfectionist to her very core: beating her at something will result in her dedicating her time to proving herself.

Big older sister energy. She's going to pull your hair.


PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:

• Let her make monsters for you! If you're a figher type, Clea fucking loves making weird disturbing creatures that kill and injure people in a variety of horrifying ways. (She's working through some things...). It's not real, so it's a good way to train and she really likes showing off her monsters. She just encountered the Tonberries and she's going to make them so much worse better. :D


• Alternatively, people to have fun with. As Clea finally gets some space to grieve, she's regressing a bit and it would do her good to just...mess around and relearn that life can be fun. Friendly competition, her being frustrated by being surrounded by people with super powers, her mercilessly roasting your lack of sartorial taste...


• Allies in the missions: Clea thinks being tasked to save her world tracks. OBVIOUSLY, Paris is the center of the world and OBVIOUSLY art is the center of the world and so OBVIOUSLY they chose her. (She doesn't lack in the self-esteem department.) She's fully here for the missions even when she's full of snarky commentary, and allies would be welcome. She also is the type of person who needs a purpose/something to do, so she'll be grabbing onto this pretty hard.


• Related to the above, re: her regressing. She needs surrogate younger siblings. Let her be your irresponsible older sister. Parent? Absolutely not - she's the aunt/sister who will facilitate your irresponsible escapades. And roast you. Possibly dunk you in a lake. Or shove you. She doesn't miss them. At all. Stop suggesting it.


• Other art people and/or snobs. Clea has a very, very strong passion for art and will pontificate if she's allowed. She's very talented and likes multiple forms of art and will happily talk about all of them.


• Please, dear God, have her meet some people with some emotional health. Clea needs help expressing her emotions in non-violent and non-angry ways.You can't punch/stab/monster your way through grief, Clea. Just any kind of person or space where she can learn that expressing herself is okay, actually, and people aren't going to despise her if she slows the slightest bit of vulnerability.


• Alternatively, people to try making her worse? She's definitely bordering on villain territory. She has to deal with her grief, who's to say she does so in a healthy way?


• Gods or powerful beings or really anyone in a position to dig into Clea's attitude towards her family's creations. She's terribly abusive of her power and incredibly dismissive of the pain of anyone she considers 'not real' or who lacks agency. I really want to put her in positions where she's the vulnerable/not real/mortal one and cause her to question herself or have that attitude judged. Potentially with breakdowns. The shoe needs to be on the other foot.


• Related to the above, situations where she's vulnerable and needs help from other people. Her self-loathing will flare so much. Let's make her suffer.

CHARACTER INFO: Princess Sonia was separated at birth from her mother and two brothers, destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy regarding Robotnik's defeat. She was raised among the aristocrats that fund Robotnik's empire and lived a charmed, sheltered life of nobility before she learned her true identity and had to flee with her brothers to join the Resistance.

She's a kind and caring girl (polite, friendly and supportive, makes friends easily, often genuinely interested to know more about those she meets so she can learn from them) with all the stubbornness of a Hedgehog (strong-willed and daring, enthusiastic about helping others, optimistic but patient). Booksmart and a deep thinker, always inquisitive about the world around her, prefers to plan ahead but a quick thinker when she has to be. Trusting to a fault. Wry sense of humor.

CHARACTER INFO: You know who she is. Diana was born out of clay on Themyscira, home of the Amazons, and later came to Man's World to help humans with all the shit they deal with and pull on each other. She's one of the founding members of the Justice League and part of DC's Trinity along with Batman and Superman. She's easy to get along with, as long as you aren't actively trying to kill people or take over the world or whatever.

ABOUT YOU: I read a lot of danmei, and I also love gaming when I have a chance! Some of my favorite fandoms are Heaven Official's Blessing, Tales of Symphonia, Suikoden, and Etrian Odyssey. I picked up Gnosia after playing Death Mark and Paranormasight (which are also excellent games!), and I had been itching to play Setsu ever since.

CHARACTER INFO: This will be the first time in over a year that Setsu hasn't been reliving the same 1~5 days on repeat! They're a soldier, and as such they often focus on getting stuff done, but they've been so high strung for so long without any break, they could honestly use another break! I would really like if they could make friends to just be normal with (their favorite food is parfaits and they've only seen 0.25 movies in their life). On the other hand, they can't turn off the part of themself that wants to understand the situation they're all in (and save at least one universe), so I would also love for them to meet some like-minded people, or even characters with differing feelings that they could bounce off of.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I love horror and mystery the most! Setsu would also be invested in trying to understand the mysteries of the situation, and they'd have a vested interest in any missions! Honestly, each of their 100+ time loops were a universe in itself, so, like, they can probably get how there are too many, but they also have one universe they don't want to go away, so.

CHARACTER: Sciel from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
CHARACTER INFO: Sciel is a very laid back, social and friendly woman who is making the most of life before death, which she thinks sounds like a great time. She’s going to be settling in fast –– lots to do, lots to see, lots of people to meet –– and despite her relative inexperience with this environment, would make a good buddy for characters less inclined to explore.

I’m looking for friends + trysts + adventure buddies for her, and in the long time, probably some sort of slow burn romance. (She’ll tell you point bank she doesn’t want this, but trust me, she does.)

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Etraya’s premise is basically part and parcel with her motivations in her home world; she’s already to looking to save her home and prove it is worthy of existence, and though she doesn’t particularly gaf about the whys and hows of the place, she will want to Experience it for herself. Her ideal day is seeing some new weird stuff, meeting some people, cracking open a cask of wine, getting laid, and breaking a sweat out in the field or in a fight.

I’m not big on fluff plots; I prefer it as a palette cleanser between bigger moments. Sciel doesn’t really bat an eye at horror, either, as the combination of her experiences and her nihilism makes her pretty unflappable. Like, kill her. Whatever. She’s much more disturbed by the prospect of living well and having to figure out what to do with that time when she’s run out of novelty.
