⏵ June State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello, Etrayans! We hope you enjoyed your time at Summer Camp! Or if your character had the fun of going off to Solmara, we hope they enjoyed fighting beasts, and convincing Borealis to come out of hiding! For this application round, we have opted to keep them open an additional week. We announced this over plurk, but realize not everyone checks there! Their new closure date will be July 4th. This will not impact our log or posting schedule at all. In addition, as of today, June 27th, the X-Men cast is no longer under cap. We've got our arrival mingle going up later today to welcome new characters! Please keep an eye out for it. On July 11th, our mission announcement and plotting post will be going up. We do want to note that this next mission will be off world, and we intend for its' duration to be four weeks. As always, we strive to be flexible and build our missions up to suit our player base/characters currently in game, so if we need to slow it down some or put up any additional logs mid-mission, we may check in with our players during to get a feel on if that would help any. Our last feedback post went up on June 19th with our next coming up on September 18th - but we welcome feedback throughout the year regardless of if there's a specific post asking for it! You are always welcome to comment to our older feedback posts with any concerns, comments, or ideas of what we can do to improve the game. We can't promise to bring everything into play, but we do listen to the ideas that have been brought our way and have implemented many player suggestions in the past. ABOUT YOU: I like to draw, I have a blue tegu, three cats, and a pomeranian. My current fandoms rn are primarily FFXVI (I also play Barnabas Tharmr here) and FFXIV, though I do love me some Death Stranding (playing the second one presently), Fear and Hunger, Expedition 33, Silent Hill, TES, Elden Ring/Bloodborne, etc etc.

CHARACTER: Emet-Selch from Final Fantasy XIV
CHARACTER INFO: He is a grumpy and judgmental sort who absolutely thinks he knows better than majority of people, though he is quick to downplay what good he does for people. He will claim he has no interest in getting involved in the shenanigans of others. He has a sharp tongue and isn't worried about what others think of him in terms of manners, though he has a pretty unbending set of principles that he holds himself to, and he values his cultural views above all others. For all his dismissal and grump, he is also a slave to sentiment, and his empathy is actually his Achilles heel, and so he can be bullied by those he pities and sees as helpless. He's the type of guy who will help someone and bitch at them the whole time he's helping them because how dare you make him help you he is SO busy he has OTHER THINGS TO DO, but by god you will be helped!

His future self's atrocities are his future self's sins, he may one day catch up with them...
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I am interested in playing Emet-Selch figuring things out in Etraya and also trying to make their little terrarium...better? He already has a lot on his plate being of the Convocation of Fourteen and from his current canon point (he's from Ktisis Hyperboreia, iykyk), so he will be taking all of this extremely seriously...but also, as far as he's concerned, he's about the only person here. I think that will be a fun little clash to play out, especially as he can peep people's souls and whatnot, making little notes of their soul densities and the like.

Oh absolutely, both stewards of their own stars and people in their own ways! Emet, unfortunately, wouldn't view the Custodian as much more than a very dedicated and well made creation (at least at first or for a while yet), but that in itself is worthy of its own respect in his book. Good craftsmanship is worthy of acknowledgement and all that.

(I guess that really depends on who gets souls in the Custodian's canon and how that maybe works. I know the rules for XIV, but other canons have their own ways of handling such concepts and I am canon blind as hell!)

honestly that's fine because the custodian views himself the same way (a well made tool) so THEY SURE DO AGREE ON THAT AT LEAST...he will accept the compliment to his creators gladly and try to be extremely factual and Not Emotional about the whole extinction thing

(the existence of a soul specifically is a Bit Complicated. i do know the beings the custodian was made to take care of definitely have them! but by the standards of the Keeper, the entity that oversees the central root that joins all the other worlds together, the Custodian is implied to qualify as sapient enough to keep his world 'online' instead of deleted or put in cold storage despite the entire universe suffering heat death and his creators being extinct

so it'd probably look weird by XIV standards. but i think it would probably exist)

A creation that is exceptionally made and understands its place while taking pride in the love its creators put into making it and the duty it was made for? Say it isn't so! Honestly, chances are he'd probably get on with the Custodian better than most of the people in Etraya on the fact that they have that understanding. Like, there isn't anything wrong with being a creation, that's just an objective fact like a dog being a canine, why are people booing him???

He will be sympathetic about the extinction thing though, that's rough and maybe kinda relevant to a future he is hoping to prevent even BEFORE being yoinked here...

(Oh then yeah! He'd think it a little weird something so inorganic, thus incapable of bring born through Natural Means, would have a soul, but then again, different worlds logically could follow different rules, perhaps? He'd find it fascinating all the same.)

I am so for all of that! He can't help himself re: his soul sight, it's a bad habit of his, nosy as can be while he pretends otherwise. He has no problem asserting to what he views as creations as them being exactly that, so it would be a fun flipping of the script on Clea. Sorry, you are not the only one who creates sentient beings through magic, many of which that can live full lives and experience a wide breadth of emotions and relationships.

It's time to matryoshka these creators.

Clea at home in Paris like: These are my soul powered existential horrors! Aren't they great? Hole punched is a great way to describe it too. Just punch out a piece and emulate a world with a soul box.

See it's okay to sympathize with them to a point, you just have to know when to cut the sympathy off and remain objective! Like yes it is very sad that the creations and whimsy given form have to be taken out back sometimes for the greater good, but at least no one real is being harmed anymore!

But yeah TL;DR Deltarune has been dropping lil bits of lore that can connect back to the relationship between Frisk/Chara and the player, and it's! Fucked!! Surprise, it's a free eldritch entity that moves your limbs and speaks with your mouth with no warning whatsoever! I used to run with them essentially being a ShB-finale-style rejoining with two actually different souls, but honestly this is even more fucked up and I love it.
