⏵ May State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello, Etrayans! As previously mentioned, we have changed our player cap to ten new players per application round. This will be in effect until we hit under 60 players. With May's round of applications, we're currently at 78 players. Given our new player limitations, we will be moving our TDMs to every three months. Our next TDM will go up on June 13th, and the one after that will go up on September 19th. To make sure players can keep TDM threads as game canon, we're going to be changing our TDM formatting a little! This will become more clear when our next TDM goes live. Mingle logs will continue going up during months when we do not have a TDM. These will be simplistic logs with a couple of prompts to play with. As a friendly reminder - Etraya's network does not have private filters! If it's posted on the network, it's accessible to everyone. The exception to this are threads happening in character inboxes. There is a player plot in progress to develop something for player characters, but as it has not been released yet, it's still inaccessible. We'll be updating our LOCATIONS page over the next week with additional places based on those who applied and were accepted; if there are any locations you would like to see in particular, please feel free to use the provided form so we can get it added! CHARACTER INFO: elisabeth has a complicated relationship with the world at large given the large amounts of murder in her past. she definitely doesn't consider herself to be a hero-type nor someone thinking of saving the world but she does have an agenda and if doing something here can help that then maybe she'll play along. she is definitely going to be looking to make friends given that she will probably struggle to figure this place out for a while (it's 1894 yo) though her friendships are... we will see. otherwise, initially elisabeth will be trying to keep her head down whilst she figures out how to make a routine of what this new life is. (and find the blood).

CR NOTES: everything? everything! friends, people to gently introduce her to things that she is clueless about, other magical people to talk magic with, and eventually someone she might accidentally bite (or people that find her nibbling on animals?)

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: i would like to explore everything. mystery and horror are excellent and whilst elisabeth won't be naturally inclined to figure out this plot she will go along for the trip with someone else. anything to prompt good relationship development but also character development is the best.

Okay but seriously, Mizuki won't be thrilled to find out the fate of her world rests on her shoulders, 'cause like, really? Her of all people? Buuut she kind of likes home, so... It's a lot of pressure, but she'll try taking it on her own.
Mizuki herself is a kid from modern day Tokyo (with slightly more advanced tech than what exists in reality) and also comes from a murder mystery story, sooo... she's definitely seen some stuff. Despite it all she handles it like a champ (and by that I mean she compartmentilizes like hell, but details) and is usually pretty ready to leap into the fray when it matters. Otherwise, she's a preteen with the sassy and bratty attitude to back it up, but for the most part, she's friendly.
CR NOTES: Obligatory unhelpful "everything" comment but like... Honestly, throw anything and everything at me, let's see what sticks! More specifically, however:
- FRIENDS, obviously, no matter the age. Anyone she can vibe and hang out with is bueno.
- A reliable adult figure....... Not because she needs a babysitter so much as Mizuki is someone who wants the emotional support of an older, wiser(?) person to trust. This is likely more of a longterm goal but. Y'know, throwing it out there!
- Roomies, anyone? I just think it'd be cute and also it's fun for facilitating cr, so if you got room for an extra body, hit me up.
- Ummm idk other than that I'm just gonna tag as many characters as I can and see what happens from there, but I'm not opposed to plotting things out.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Rubs my little hands... It's hard to narrow it down because I love digging into the nitty gritty of plots! Mysteries? Hell yes. Clues dropped around to investigate? Hellll yes. Exploration! Above all else I love the element of surprise in roleplay, so having the unexpected happen on me without any preplanning is one of my favorite things when it happens. ABOVE ALL ELSE... I just love having things to really dig into when I thread and seeing what a game setting has to offer. Perhaps once I get a better feel for the setting I'll have more specific ideas, but while starting off I'll for sure take any bone thrown my way.

More seriously tho, she just managed to stop a ridiculously overpowered superhuman from taking over several realities and was just making plans to stop another overpowered superhuman from killing a good friend of hers, as well as a whole lot of people. Before that, she was doing very similar things. So yeah...this isn't exactly new to her. More than anything, she might go insane if there's not enough of a crisis happening at all times. She might even...relax? That would probably be bad for her health.

I'm very excited to have her joining the cast here and I'm looking forward to her connecting the dots on Krouse, which I'm assuming happens 'almost immediately'. He's plead his case with varying levels of success to the rest of the Worms but Victoria is the first hero he'll have to explain himself to, which I think could spin out in a couple interesting ways considering the amnesty he doesn't know about and Victoria's intricate feelings about villain reform.

Otherwise I'm just here to enjoy the blonde on blonde on brunette violence.

CHARACTER: Brandon Carver from The Walking Dead
CHARACTER INFO: So, Carver a former mercenary and current raider in a zombie apocalypse death cult. He's paranoid, twitchy, reflexively violent, and has a tendency to get in people's face and talk about God at them. It'll become apparent pretty fast that something is very, very Off about him within a few minutes of interaction. He's dealing with more than a decade's worth of untreated PTSD, trauma bonded with his cultist veteran friends/adopted family, and will swing hard between thinking this whole thing is a hallucination or a test from God. Most of his friends are dead! A big part of that is his fault and he's going to be feeling Some Way about that, but the thought of protecting their graves and avenging them is enough to keep him going and at least making attempts toward teamwork.

He's going to be so good at it, guys. So good. However, it's important to note that Carver is a trained interrogator and despite his whole....self and the extreme paranoia, is pretty good at reading other people. He will assume literally everyone is out to kill him and is actively planning out ways to do that, though. He's also a little button pushing asshole who likes to get a rise out of people for the hell of it.

On a more serious note, Carver has a lot of heavier elements in his backstory, including torture, abuse, cult dynamics, and the death of a child. I've got an opt out post if needed.
CR NOTES: Everyone and everything! Carver's social skills have taken a giant dive during the apocalypse, people who will call him on being a violent, paranoid weirdo, people who'll roll with that and/or encourage it, soldier types he can commiserate with, etc. As a note, he's going to be exceptionally weird and awkward around younger characters, but he's surprisingly good with kids and younger teenagers. Also, do you want someone to suggest murder for solving your problems? Carver will suggest murder for solving your problems and then help you hide and/or display the body. He's cool like that.

CHARACTER INFO: Bakugo is kind of an unpleasant person, but he will absolutely take the need to save his world personally and make it his utmost goal for the foreseeable future, and he will work hard at it. Single-mindedly even.

As for his personality, Bakugo is loud, yells a lot, calls people names a lot (or just 'extras' if he doesn't know them), is generally always angry. It's because he doesn't know how to properly express himself, he doesn't even have any real excuse to be the way he is, honestly. But beyond being abundantly aggro and kind of a bully, he's caring in how he acts - he's one of those people who will yell at you and call you an idiot but then also fetch you your favourite tea when you're sick. If he likes you. (It can be hard to tell if he likes you.)

Oh he also sweats nitroglycerin and can explode it from his hands, which he uses for offense as well as flying around like an idiot.
CR NOTES: Cop-out, but EVERYTHING. Narrowing it down, I'd love to have some acquaintances who are capable of taking all his abuse and looking beyond it with the hope of making friends. I'd love to have rivals or frienemies for Bakugo, so they can get that good "making each other better" CR. I'm not super into negative CR just for the sake of negative CR, but I like to see development in relationships as we go along so I've got no problem with enemies-to-frienemies-to-friends or similar!

He's a big fat nerd who's very stubborn and kind of hard to get along with, but once you become friends with him, he's ride or die.
CR NOTES: I'd love for him to meet other superheroes (batfam and bat-adjacent folks, come at me!) and to play around with secret identity stuff. He hasn't really ever had a chance to just be a normal teenager, so he's gonna be a little stiff at first when walking around as Baixi instead of as Bat-Man.

CHARACTER INFO: Fresh adult, hot out of the pizza oven! He's from the tail end of NWH after probably bouncing from FEAST to an apartment all his own, so he's a mixed bag of feelings showing up here. On one hand, they've surely got something they can do to avoid universe destruction. C'mon, sounds like a cop-out to only save a few. On the other hand, why would you pick someone to save universes who nearly dragged a bunch of villains into his own? On the other OTHER hand, he's kind of stoked to have a handful of people already know who Peter Parker is, considering nobody knows him back home. Homeboy has been lonely (and is still grappling with the recent losses he's had in his life, alongside the guilt that comes with it).
CR NOTES: I love varied CR, anything and everything. Also as a note: I don't have much interest in keeping Peter and Spider-Man separate for very long! I've played him hiding his identity a few times before, and in a game with no real NPCs or easy way to conceal it in a big crowd of folks, I'm way more interested in people figuring it out! So I'm totally down to have situations where the cat is out of the bag early.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I looove psychological elements, deeper introspective things. Nothing one-tracks some delicious CR like events that bare people's souls. I also come from a game with some really juicy team-work driven missions, so I would also love to see that, too! Horror is my jam, but I'm into adventure with a side of ridiculous day to day life.

CR NOTES: ok but seriously i've apped accepting 95% of my CR will likely be negative so that's what you want then i can provide it. eobard CAN be normal when your name isn't barry allen, but he's a deeply narcissistic dude who never learns his lesson and thinks he's the smarter version of elon musk.

im not going to say positive cr is impossible but even other villains he works with hate his ass because he's so arrogant. if you hate barry allen then he can be president of the fan club.

p.s. for other dc comic people, he will likely know who your character is by reputation though not their secret identity. this is the cosmic power of cheating (i.e. being a time traveler from the 25th century)

CHARACTER INFO: Scott's coming from very early on The Last Stand so he's going to be going through his Depression Era but hey. Having to save his world is a good way to make up for failing to save the woman he loved, you know? Redemption here we come. He's the leader of the X-Men, is good with kids, and knows what it's like to feel like an outcast/be a superpowered kid surrounded by people who just Don't Get It. He can be a little sassy and sarcastic at times but that's mostly directed at Logan so you should be fine. Wade will be TBD there. He's accepting of others who are different and fights for their rights/protection. He's also a good pilot, mechanic, drives a motorcycle when Logan isn't stealing it, and shoots laser beams from his eyes.

CR NOTES: I'll definitely be interested in having him interact with the other mutants and Marvel characters, mostly because he might or might not know them depending. Timelines amirite. People he can train, mentor, guide, etc. always work and he's always here to support those who aren't human. Also will Scott be all ugh at The Avengers as his comic counterpart can sometimes be? Stay tuned for that. 🤷

I love my three cats and I work at a cat hotel! I love to boomerang but I don't always have the time/brainspace for it. I tend to match whatever the other person's doing, as far as short or long tags, brackets or prose, etc.

CHARACTER: Cloud Strife from FFVII (Rebirth edition)
CHARACTER INFO: For Cloud, Etraya is kinda just like his life at home but more urgent. Planet's in danger? Yup, gotta do something about that. Striving to prove himself so people will respect him and let him save the world? Look, he's not going to admit it, but. Yeah. That's him all over. Cloud's not necessarily very good at making friends, but he does want them. He's a little bit of a workaholic to avoid too much introspection, but he's kind of a pushover when his friends try to drag him into things, so I expect he'll try to be focused on the mission 24/7 and others will shake him like a maraca until he accepts some socializing and fun. As far as establishing himself in the setting, he's a merc but his idea (okay, Tifa and Aerith's idea that he grudgingly adopted and now enjoys) of being a merc includes doing a bunch of random odd jobs for people, so he'll probably continue doing that here.

CR NOTES: I love most kinds of CR! Cloud's a very shy, awkward person who pretends (not entirely consciously) to be a cool, stoic person, and his social skills really leave something to be desired, so his first impressions on people are often not great. But then as they get to know each other/Cloud starts remembering to actually act like he gives a shit, he warms up and ends up super loyal. So that progression would be fun to play out! He's also prime rival/frienemy material, and that's always fun. I don't mind negative CR as long as it's going somewhere, like leading to resolution of some kind and the player and I are on the same page as far as general goals. Definitely here for shipping, too! But mostly I like letting things develop on their own, so just throw your muses at me and we'll see what happens!

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Is 'yes' a cop-out answer to everything? >_> I love horror, mystery, fluff, plot, and exploration, so I'm excited to dig into all of it! Cloud in particular is great for psychological horror stuff, awkward adorable fluff, getting on board with plot, and exploring new places (not always because he wants to, he's just willing to go anywhere he needs to).

CHARACTER INFO: Doreen is an optimist who has taken on big intergalactic threats before, so she's ready to save the universe - no, multiverse - with the power of FRIENDSHIP and COMPUTER SCIENCE! She's determined to find a way out of this for everybody!

Character-wise, Doreen is an earnest, dorky goofball who genuinely loves being a superhero! She has a tail, super strength, and a bunch of squirrely powers, and is going to be very upset that there don't seem to be any squirrels here, but she'll deal. I'm taking her from the end of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, so this will be the first time she isn't trying to keep up a secret identity.

CR NOTES: Doreen is very open and friendly, and a great listener! If your character needs a friend, someone who's excellent at punching, or someone to cheer them on as they go through a villainous redemption arc, she's your girl.

CHARACTER INFO: sokka just saw the end of a hundred year war in his home world, so he's not entirely thrilled about getting dragged here and told it might be destroyed. he wants to have Words with echo and will be very single-minded about trying to find a Solution to this problem that no one has found a solution to smh. thankfully, his best friend aang is also here, so that will help loosen him up so he doesn't just spiral into research and planning. but also this world is so different from his own that he wants to know Everything and will be very interested in exploring and learning whatever he can and probably sharing his questionable art and poetry skills along the way.

CR NOTES: found family! rivals! people to generally annoy! science buddies! i'm honestly down for any kind of cr. sokka can be extremely obnoxious but he can also be very serious for a 15 yo (he has Seen Some Shit). he's sarcastic and annoying but is also very smart and loves science and engineering and will probably tell you about that time he invented the submarine and how his first girlfriend turned into the moon (that's rough buddy). he likes to yap! he's not always super trusting of strangers but he warms up to ppl quickly if he has a good Feeling (and his instincts are Usually Correct either way). he probably won't Admit that he's still just a kid who needs a responsible adult in his life (you can fit so many mommy and daddy issues in this bad boy) but any kind of parental figures would be excellent and will help him unpack a lot of the Single Protector of My Tribe/Gaang baggage he doesn't know how to let go of especially now that the war is over (alexa play who am i les miserables).

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: mystery, research, and exploration are the big ones. sokka is massively curious and determined and wants to solve this universe problem that is apparently unsolvable. he also has approximately 35468746 unanswered questions and wants answers to all of them tyvm. also totally down for wacky time-wasting nonsense every now and then to shake things up and a little sprinkle of horror because a children's show was not allowed to go full horrors and atrocities of war and i would love to explore some of the darker stuff.
