![]() ⏵ March State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello and welcome to Etraya! We were very excited to see all the players interested in our new game when we put up our interest check, and are glad to have you guys join us! Thank you for applying to join Etraya and giving our game a chance. At this point, we have 35 Characters who have applied in for our first round. Given that applications do not close until 3PM PST today, there is still time to get in any last-minute applications! As a heads up, we have updated our FAQ to reflect that mod posts, including mission posts and OOC intros, will be posted at or before 3PM PST on the day they are meant to go up. We don't want to give ourselves a strict time, given we appreciate having the flexibility to make last-minute changes as needed to suit our player base, but do promise we will get them up by 3PM PST. We'll be updating our LOCATIONS page over the next week with additional places based on those who applied and were accepted; if there's any location you would like to see in particular, please feel free to use the provided form so we can get it added! Additionally, please check out our CALENDAR noting the dates of the upcoming mission and Activity Check due dates. For new characters, activity is simply responding to the ACTIVITY CHECK page using the formatting provided. Those who have not completed this by the day AC closes will be removed from the game. ![]() ⏵ OOC INTRO ⏴ Please use the below form to introduce yourselves (or don't, we're not cops, introduce yourself how you want) and let us know of any upcoming plans you're looking forward to in game! We also have a mod comment HERE that you can use to ask us mods anything about our upcoming plans, add suggestions, or anything of the like. |

ABOUT YOU: I love possums. One of the best marsupials out there. Enjoy how their mouths get so big. In terms of fandom, I dabble in most superhero canons, had a deep Batman comics phase, enjoy science fiction generally, and the recent release of the latest instalment in the Dune movie adaptation living up to my childhood dreams rewired parts of my brain. My pace varies but I like boomeranging when things line up that way, and I try to match length of tags in threads. A fun fact about me is that I'm very fond of spreadsheets for real.
CHARACTER: Francis 'Trickster' Krouse, Worm
CHARACTER INFO: Krouse will start off not being too invested in the fate of the world he was brought from, because it's not the world he considers actually his own. When he figures out it's not clear which world they're representing, he'll be reconsidering that position. For now, his major motivation will be attempting to figure out how to use this new setting to his advantage - he has some personal goals in mind.
He's also lying extensively about himself to start off with. His current cover story is that he was in prison for stealing a car, which is technically one of the crimes he did commit, but not actually the reason he ended up there. In reality, Krouse was a supervillain mercenary whose career ended in spectacular and tragic fashion. He's not looking to pick that life back up here, and would prefer to keep a low profile and get along, but there's probably going to be some friction when it comes to how he tends to approach problem solving with a certain degree of 'practical ruthlessness'.
CR NOTES: I'm interested in building on the positive starts he's made with people on the TDM and playing out the gradual reveal of what's actually going on with him. Krouse is dealing with the aftermath of some significant personal losses, so he'll be leery of getting too attached to anyone new, but he's lonely enough that it'll be hard for him to avoid it. He's often annoying on purpose, so I'm also open to exploring more friction-based relationships with him - Krouse is probably a good petty sniping partner.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: To start off with, I'm most interested in getting Krouse to a point where he buys into the game's world saving premise fully. Events that involve dealing with the ramifications of what's going on here will probably be helpful for that, as will building his attachments to other people who do care about what happens to the worlds they come from. Multiverses are also a significant part of his canon and his backstory specifically, so I'm keen on exploring things related to that.
OTHER: Krouse as a possum:

I think these two meeting could be pretty interesting because Krouse shares some things in common with Tim, like being kind of a huge nerd, but what he's done with his life is, you know, a pretty different trajectory.

How's Tim feel about the arcade games down in the apartment building rec room?
no subject
I’m torn between him being like ooooh spare parts and trying to use them to hack into something and actually playing them, because he DOES like arcade games.
no subject
Krouse would be affronted at the suggestion of dismantling classic retro arcade games and then get annoyed with himself for being affronted, because that's stupid, if Tim can make something useful out of them he should do it...but...the games...maybe they should at least get some high scores in first? You know, for honing hand eye coordination.

I mean. It would be a shame to not... try them ... for establishing multiversal differences...

Krouse likes the way Tim thinks. This is research and so on. Gotta pin down the divergences.

And yes, 100% to your deduction of how this could go! And cannot wait to see how it actually unfolds when we get to threading 👀
(i'll also toss a quick copy-paste canon recap here for you: 100 years after earth was destroyed by nuclear weapons, a couple thousand people are living on a failing space ship. to conserve oxygen they send 100 juvenile delinquents down to earth to see if it's habitable. it's okay, it's a science experiment (it's also a little bit of an execution...) only guess what! not all humanity died off 100 years ago!! and the survivors are Not Thrilled about the new sky people dropping in. clarke becomes one of the defacto leaders of this rag tag teenage army, nothing goes to plan EVER, and she earns the super swanky nickname Commander Of Death because she does a few war crimes in the name of protecting her people. it's a... fun show.)

Brief Worm recap as it relates to Krouse: he was a member of a high school e-sports team that got isekai'd into a parallel Earth full of superpowers, he made a lot of Big Choices in the immediate aftermath to try to save his team captain/girlfriend + keep the rest of the team alive and not in Interdimensional Intruder detention, those choices all had hideous consequences (like giving them all superpowers themselves), and he ended up the new team leader by virtue of being the one most willing to make the hard calls in the process of trying to get them home. All of his choices kept having new, even worse hideous consequences, and eventually it ended incredibly badly for everyone involved.
Super fun to be a teenager committing acts of terrible violence as the weight of responsibility and failure slowly crushes you, am I right. What a fun thing to be potentially able to bond over.

I love it, and thus my excitement to thread together increases ten-fold. Like, I coulda written that last little bit myself!! And what kind of bonding will that be? Could range from "you ever look into a mirror and see your own rage projected back at you" (positive) or "you ever look into a mirror and see your own rage projected back at you..." (negative)
no subject
He's coming into the game even more angry in a sort of reckless self-destructive way so long story short, yes. Mirroring. And quite possibly of both varieties!

The next time Natsuno and Krouse run into each other Teacher's mental conditioning (courtesy of Krouse's Birdcage stint) will be mostly worn off, so he's going to be much more on form to most of canon: kind of insufferable.
