JANUARY MISSION PLOTTING
![]() ⏵ the quantum rail ⏴ On the morning of January 24th, characters are instructed to come to the train station that has been built on the edge of Etraya’s environmental bubble. The tracks seem to lead over the rivers, and out off the planet. How train tracks can continue out into space goes unanswered, but regardless, characters are expected to board the train. As Aurora stated, only the train may cross the barrier safely; those who attempt to cross it without being inside the train will find it to be impossible. No one will be allowed to remain within Etraya. Companion animals must accompany their owners, or be left with Aurora within the hospital building proper. Anything organic outside the hospital will not be there upon their return. This includes plants! Please keep this in mind when deciding how your characters will travel. Once they’ve boarded the train, it will become apparent that those already aboard the train were not at all aware that the train had stopped to begin with. This train has been running continuously for centuries, and its’ inhabitants have been aboard through generations. They remember stories of the time before they resided on the train: their families have told them of their dying world, and how the only resolution they had available was to board the train which runs on the Quantum Rail, continuously generating power and keeping them moving to prevent them from meeting their end. No one knows exactly how this works, but they are aware that exiting the train does mean certain doom, and that the only way to continue living is to continue caring for the train and keep it running. The goal of the mission is simple: find the King, without garnering suspicion from those already aboard the train. Who the King is remains unspecified. What the King does is not specified. Where to find the King is also not told. All they know is that somewhere within this train is the King, which must be found before they can return to Etraya. ![]() ⏵ classes ⏴ Each character will be assigned a class before entering the train. These classes will determine their starting point. While we are assigning the classes, you may choose the occupation your character takes within that class, if applicable! Additionally, if there are any large concerns about the class your character has been assigned, please use the mod queries comment below. The classes are: ELITES The wealthy class! The Elites have access to an unlimited supply of food, water, and clothing and are not expected to contribute to the welfare of the train. They are allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they please. This includes calling on the lower classes and demanding they do things for them. Their carriages are lavish, with spacious suites, private dining areas, and luxury amenities. Holographic art installations and high-tech gadgets are freely available and widely distributed. NEONS These are the medical staff, educators, administrative staff, entertainment coordinators, maintenance supervisors, counselors, IT support staff, and resource managers. Neons are the managers of Quantum Rail and are expected to keep everything running and keep the peace. They are given a salary that keeps them living comfortably and needing nothing, even if it’s not enough to live extravagant lives. Neons are not given much freedom in their personal lives - their spouses are decided for them, they must replenish their own numbers but never more. Their schedules are strict, and meant to be maintained at all times. Their carriages are comfortable and well-equipped - functional yet stylish. SPRAWLS Middle-class workers. They are given jobs that run through every shift, This encompasses engineers, conductors, security, librarians, tailors, and chefs. They are given a salary that allows them to keep up with their expenses without too much difficulty, as long as nothing drastic happens. Their carriages are practical and efficient - a balance of comfort and utility. DREGS Low class, back of the train inhabitants. The dregs are the maintenance workers, sanitation crew, laborers, water purifiers, waste recyclers - those who do everything no one else would want to do. They are not given an income but are given portioned rations that are enough to keep them alive, but not comfortable. Dregs live in the back of the train, sharing their resources when they aren’t fighting over who gets what. Many of them are scavengers, thieves, and among them are a few criminals hiding among those the Elites consider scum so that they cannot be punished for their crimes. Their carriages are crowded and utilitarian. Their bunks and living spaces are all shared, with a few well-known individuals taking over larger portions of the back carriages. Storage space is limited, and nothing is sacred. Groups are as assigned:
![]() ⏵ NPCS ⏴ Rumors fill the train carriages, whispers about certain individuals aboard the train who may hold unspeakable power over everyone else aboard, hiding information that could prove to be invaluable. There is Lady Kestrel, an Elite who claims she can speak to the train itself. A Sprawl who goes by The Conductor is rumored to hold the original keys, but his age shows: weary from his years, he seems to forget not only who he is, but where he is, and often speaks of cabins in the woods and beaches he's visited in years past with his wife - while most aboard know that The Conductor has never seen the woods, nor visited beaches with his now deceased wife. A Neon engineer called Odin has a fascination for the train's power core and seems to know more than he lets on. And there is the prophecy: one day, a child born to the Dregs will be the one who leads them all to the New World: a place outside of the train where life can be sustained without difficulty. This child will be who levels the playing field, and leads them all to a peaceful life where everyone is equal, and no one has more power over the other. ![]() ⏵ TASKS ⏴ The train holds many secrets beyond just the King's identity! There are numerous things for characters to explore aboard it. The Ghost Broadcast is a static-filled broadcast that plays over the train's speakers in the Dreg's carriages at odd hours, whispering words that don't sound like words at all. A small group of Dregs and Sprawls have been working to sabotage the train and encourage a rebellion believing that life has returned to normal outside of it and yet the Elites keep it running just the way it is to enjoy their lives of comfort. The Sealed Carriage is an entire car that remains locked toward the far back of the train and is guarded by Sprawl security guards. The cited reasons for this is "dangerous power surges", but rumor hints that there may be something more ominous going on behind closed doors. This mission does not have a set end date! At most, it will continue through February 14th. If a resolution is found before then, we will put up a log noting such. |

Maria would talk about how when she talked to the Conductor, it was obvious how hard he worked. The Conductor told Maria that she sounded like his wife when she offered to get him a drink. It's hard not being able to see your husband etc etc etc. Stuff like that.
It'd be interesting if Felicia and Maria did doubleteam this. Gal pal talk. Nothing crazy about that.
