NOVEMBER MISSION PLOTTING

⏵ race to the finish line ⏴

Welcome to another fun-filled mission!

What? Missions haven't been fun-filled and enjoyable? Well, it's time to fix that!

This time, characters will be working together to build, customize, and race their own cars from scratch! In teams assigned by Aurora, characters will put their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving to the test as they compete—and maybe sabotage others—to take the prize!

⏵ building phase ⏴

The mission will begin with a visit to the temporary racing garage, set up just outside the hospital and packed with every tool and part necessary to construct the ultimate racing machine. Each team will have its dedicated work bay with all the essential materials, and teams are invited to decorate their bay and name their team to reflect their collective spirit and style. Are you the "Speed Demons"? "Rusty Rebels"? Maybe team "Doomsdayers"? Get creative!

But how will characters be separated into teams? As far as they know, their teams will be assigned by Aurora to encourage spreading out mechanical talent among the teams. For players, we have a sign up top level down below! Teams will include somewhere between three to five characters - and may include a bit more if we've got a couple we need to fit in. For sign-ups, please feel free to include characters you want your character to be teamed with. We'll do our best to assign characters to teams we believe they'll fit in with.

Teams will have one week to build their cars. Once assembled, the companion bots will open up a raceway through Etraya, marking pathways that wind through the various terrains and obstacles.

Each team will need to select a driver and a passenger (who will be power-capped during the race), and assign the remaining members as part-gatherers or support. There will be a midway point, in which those not actively in the race can serve as a "pit crew" of sorts!

Gathering parts will also include a few mini-missions! Companion bots will have special tools and parts to give out, but these will all come with a price: do you want those special all-terrain tires? Well, you and a teammate are going to need to spend the night out under the stars together to earn them.

We will include a comment to sign up for these under the log when it goes live and will be doing our best to respond to these as quickly as possible to give you time to thread these out!

The log will go live on Friday, November 8th, with the official race occurring on Friday, November 15th. On the day of the race, we'll announce the winner - this will be RNG'd, but teams with special parts will receive an extra entry per special part. IE, if Gorgug and Accelerator complete three tasks together to get special parts from the companion bots, their team will be entered into RNG four times.

The course will contain numerous obstacles meant to hinder their progress - and it will be up to individual teams to find ways to overcome them.

⏵ the race ⏴

On race day, characters will face a variety of obstacles. Each team's strategy and quick thinking will be crucial to get through tight spots, mudslides, companion bots cosplaying as mothers pushing their trams across the paved path, and any sabotaging that may be set up by other teams.

⏵ you bet your ass⏴

For those who aren't as keen on teamwork, there's another way to "win": a companion bot has set up an unofficial betting station. Place your bets on the teams or drivers in Harry's Hideaway Pub, which will be set up with screens that broadcast the race!

Do you have insider knowledge about drivers or teams? Will you lie to others to mislead them? The betting area is set up unofficially in the bar with television screens tuning in, but who’s gonna complain, really?

⏵ NOTES ⏴
While missions are mandatory, we're only going to be assigning teams to those who sign up below! Those who do not sign up can simply be "in a team" that either chooses not to participate or participates in the background. We're leaving this option open to players who are still playing catch-up with other plots, or may just need to use November as quiet time

For this mission, teams will be put together by the mod team. We'll be doing our best to distribute those who are competent with modern-day tech. For those who aren't, the companion bots will be doing their best to lend a hand and explain tools/tricks of the trade also! Feel free to handwave this having happened.

The log for building the vehicles will go live on November 8th. This log is also when teams will be officially assigned. On this log, we will have sign-ups for members of teams to request special parts. These mini-missions could involve anything from spending some quality time together to pranking other teams, to small tasks around Etraya. We will make these tasks to suit the individuals who request them. These mini-missions must be requested by groups of at least two characters - mini-missions cannot be taken on alone.

Mini missions do not need to be completely threaded out to count as having been completed - we'll take a summary from the players involved!

The race itself will go live on November 15th. This log will also include information on who has won the race.

Cars from back home cannot be used during this race. The vehicles need to be newly constructed.

Vehicles that come out of the race intact can be kept! The paved tracks will also be a permanent part of Etraya after the race.

We will keep utilizing this plotting post throughout the mission - please remember to check it after teams are assigned, to reach out to your teammates!

Ohhh, IIRC the people goo is a nanomachine substance, no? A castmate of Gorgug's did take a sample of it from Gorgug when he first arrived.

There would be no other means of passing through the barrier without removing a section, correct? Unless it could be possible via passing through the...goo???

Does the gunk have any properties to it? Is it affecting the barrier in any way, or is it just sitting there uselessly? Gorgug got his new lab toys for analysing substances...!!

Thank you, I did want to make sure!

I am wondering actually about the goo. If a sample is taken, is it possible that it could multiply while being analysed due to being near a power source, even if that's electrical or magical? And if so, will any returned to the barrier stick to it without a problem?

It's so weird.... Gorgug is going to keep some to mess with.....!!! Like a weird pet. Will it survive in a glass bottle and then a glass tank.

This is so good to know, thank you! And the broken panelling is higher up, I'm assuming, from where the ship hit it?

We should come back to you with an answer about yanking out the panel or not soon, we just need to check that all the characters involved would be in agreement! Thanks for these answers so far, mods. 🙏

edit: aaand the gang is in agreement! unlike the modified drone gorgug made last time, he's going to be making a metal servant in the shape of an octopus (with only four arms, currently) with some level of intelligence to do its job. gorgug will make an amount of the Goo multiply so that when it go to a broken panel it can remove, the Goo can be deployed to help strengthen around the piece when it is put back.

its job is to go out there towards the Thing that can be seen in the distance. if it's really far from Etraya, there's a chance of gorgug losing his feed/connection to it, but it'll have its own memory bank to keep a recording, should it return. Gorgug will know once it comes back within a distance of Etraya if it survives the journey, since he'll have a mental link to it! It won't attempt to get into danger and will run if there's a threat out there, but it will try to record what it can. It moves like this to try and not bring too much attention to itself...

the gang will also retreat back to Rin's place if nothing major seems to happen around the barrier that would be noticeable...!! mainly because they don't want to get caught by companion bots if Aurora gets alerted.

Also if you mods need to know when this is being done for time reference, let us know since this would obvs take some time for building and investigating!

I'm assuming the nanomachines will become sluggish before they stop moving? To give indication they need to be fed. Like a tamagotchi.

And rad! So to be sure, there will be no indication that Aurora or the companion bots will be alerted to the barrier being broken through, as long as everything is put back and fixed into place? So further attempts can be made (while also allowing adjustments to be made to Gorgug's octopus servant)?

Hey mods, before we give you details about what the group does, just a couple of more questions: does the bi-pedal figure have ears, eyes, a mouth? Is the distance between the city and it around 150 feet or more?

Okay, hi mods, sorry for the wait! The gang will be doing this:

The first excursion will put pressure on the metal servant due to the gravity, but since it does have its own gravitational field due to its levitation+flight, it won't be entirely fucked, just slow. The gang also don't know if they're going to get that second chance to investigate, and so they'll let it go out and see what it can find.

And it will not interact with the individual on this excursion (it also does not interact or acknowledge the companion bots). It doesn't have the means to do so, nor does it have any substantial weaponry. It just wants to get readings of the outside, record footage, and then return. So it would have hung back once it got close enough to make out its form, and then returned to the dome.

Finding out there's somebody out there (and that Gorgug needs to help his servant deal with the gravity (only he cares as much as he does about this)), their second excursion is thus:

The servant will be able to manage the gravity better, and will also leave with a backpack. It will deposit this either somewhere near to the individual, or around where it had last found it. It will still not attempt to approach them, but will leave the backpack with some large clothing found inside Roxx's, some snacks, a thermal flask, notebook, pens and pencils.

There is also, in a case, the earpiece that Riz got a while back. It's been set to a separate communication channel (as it was originally meant for the super secret channel made by the Oracle), and there is a visual instruction of how to put it on. There is then a message with questions inside the notebook. There is a message in the earpiece's personal inbox to 'Read the book. Contact one of the usernames on it.'.

This is:
We come in peace and only wish for more information on where we are. We have been forcibly detained in a place known as 'Etraya' by a being known as 'Echo' underneath the pretense of saving the multiverse for nine months. This may be our only chance for outside communication. Do you know anything about Etraya, Echo, or the veracity of Echo's claims?

What name do you have for this world and what is the date as you know it? Are you native to this world? Are there others like you out there and if so, what do you call yourselves?

Please coordinate a way for us to communicate if you don't trust the earpiece we gave you.

The notebook also includes the contact for Rin, Riz, and Gorgug on the earpiece, should they want to use that.
