SEPTEMBER STATE OF THE GAME

⏵ September State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴

Hello, Etrayans!

Thank you for your patience as we work through our growing pains. We're still figuring out what pacing works best with our player base, and are adjusting as well as we can to ensure the game is fun for everyone involved! We do have our September Feedback Post, which we invite you to use to let us know if you have any questions/concerns/feedback/ideas that can assist in making the game easier to engage with for you.

We would like to remind everyone that we are continuing to use one plotting post for each mission. For this mission, this would be our plotting post that went up in early September! As we have new players joining us, we would encourage you to please check it out to see if there are any new comments. We have also edited the FAQ to cover topics that were asked about under the mod queries header, to save players reading through all the individual questions.

Additionally, don't forget your Activity! For new players, this is just their comment with their handle and their characters' names. This is due before October 1st.

⏵ OOC INTRO ⏴

Welcome to the game, new arrivals! Please use the below form to introduce yourself, tell us what you’re looking forward to, and CR you want to play. We also have a mod comment HERE that you can use to ask us mods anything about our upcoming plans, add suggestions, or anything of the like.

So I also have a snarky introvert who wants to forsake humanity for the sake of learning and who is greatly distressed at the idea of not saving all the worlds/ranking any world above others. I don't have any ideas for immediate connection since I'm almost completely canonblind (I know who Batman is...?) and Linhardt here is from a fantasy medieval canon so he's a very confused nerd at the moment, but if we can get over the mutual introversion they might be able to connect?

Lin does have an interest in mental health/coping and is disturbed by his own dissociative tendencies sometimes, so someone who is actually aware of things like feelings and coping with them might be nice - his canon doesn't know shit about mental health. :|

I’m mostly canonblind to FE (not including Smash Bros…?) but I’m down for this! Long story short, Jason used to be a Robin for Batman, got murdered by the Joker, and then got resurrected and became a very angry antihero/villain. WFA is after that and is like the good ending route of him going to therapy and reconciling with the rest of the BatFamily.

I’m thinking maybe they nerd-bond first as a way to break through their introverted tendencies. Jason’s going to want to go right into investigating mode so that could be a start too.

He will absolutely be sympathetic and notice Linhardt’s symptoms. Jason canonically has gone through panic attacks and a recent chapter has him have an episode that was almost dissociative. Him and his family know the techniques to get through those episodes so he’ll absolutely help out Linhardt.

Kind of related but Jason enjoys the Jane Austen-era of literature so Linhardt coming from fantasy medieval won’t be off-putting for Jason at all.

That's okay, I'm canonblind to most comic book superhero canons. (But I know who the Joker is and why Jason might be very pissed after that experience: Good job never killing your enemies, Bats. *thumbs up* - it's not like it would impact anyone or anything). You just said 'snarky introvert' and had a bookstore top level so I was like 'we should talk.'

Nerd bond is always a solid in with Linhardt: his curiosity is the one thing that will override his wariness around people, and it's also so good for him to meet other nerds. He's a magical theory/magical science nerd but in his world scientific knowledge is restricted/forbidden. So while there are some nerds, the truly experimental/crazy science guys are rare. That's why I like throwing him at people from modern canons: They meet him and they're like 'oh, you're a science guy.' Lin's met like... two other nerds and both of them are more practical and willing to let things go than Lin is. So meeting people who don't think he's stupid for having mostly theoretical interests is great for him.

He will absolutely be sympathetic and notice Linhardt’s symptoms. Jason canonically has gone through panic attacks and a recent chapter has him have an episode that was almost dissociative. Him and his family know the techniques to get through those episodes so he’ll absolutely help out Linhardt.

Linhardt when somebody's reaction other than his closest friends isn't "Get over it" like...seems sus... he actively notes that his distress at seeing other people hurt has gone away and that's maybe not a good thing, but almost everyone else is just glad he's stopped whining as much and participates in the war more now. :| Please do validate his lack of feelings is not a good thing.

It's okay, Linhardt. One of Jason's younger brothers is also a science nerd and he only lightly teases him out of affection. So he respects science folks!

Jason will definitely validate what Lin's going through. Constant combat is a hell of a thing anyone to go through. :(

Teasing is good - it's familiar. Ah, complicated nostalgia.

Feudal societies blow, man. They blow.
