⏵ June State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello, Etrayans! Thank you so much for your feedback! Based on player responses, we're going to make a few changes to help balance out the game and make it easier to interact with: Instead of large monthly missions, we'll be moving to a more flexible schedule. We'll have mingle logs up after every application round, with mini optional 'missions'. These mingle logs may include prompts within current missions if a mission is running long. Mingle logs will also include prompts using a few of our locations. We won't be taking private spaces (IE, the Batcave), but will be utilizing other added locations for prompts to encourage exploration. For any areas belonging to characters that we're a little unsure of using for open prompts (S.T.A.R Labs, the Academy), we'll be messaging the player who submitted those locations for confirmation it's alright to use them before adding them to logs. Please don't be too worried if you get a DM from the mod journal! We'll be leaving a comment on our State of the Game post for mingle suggestions! If Dean Winchester wants to play with some of his magical books in his bunker and have hijinks occur that affect the player base, we'll add that in! Or if Barry tries to mess with the timeline (when he knows he really shouldn't. Look at all the disasters he's caused) we'll add a few prompts regarding that on our monthly mingle! Large missions will go up every other month at most. Missions may occur over multiple logs depending on the mission itself! For example, missions like the Labyrinth may take a couple of months, with a few logs going up with prompts for things to do within the mission. We will continue using only one plotting post on the OOC comm, linked within each relevant log. For lengthy missions, we will still have, at minimum, a one-month break between them. Continuing with the previous example, if the Labyrinth runs over two months, the third month will have the usual mingle after the application round with mini, optional missions but won't have a larger, meatier mission. The mission will instead be put off until the month after, to allow for at least four weeks of cooldown time between missions. This will allow more time for CR development outside of these logs. We'll keep offering opportunities for characters to drive the direction the game is going! This was always part of our intention; while the game is larger, and thus a little more difficult to keep up with the individual actions of characters, we've got our eyes peeled for what characters are up to and will reach out to players if we think there's something fun we can implement off of what they're getting into! If players have ideas, please feel free to reach out to us via the plotting post, or mod contact. When creating Etraya, one of our goals was to be able to respond to player inquiries with "yes, and" as often as possible. Opportunities for characters to "choose" the next mission will continue to be offered where applicable. TDMs will continue to function on the comics logic of, it's happening but happening out of time and thus, can whenever you want it to. This helps us integrate new characters, gives fun opportunities for dropping them into the game, and gives current players more flexibility to play with TDM prompts. If you have any additional feedback, please add it to the feedback post, or even to the state of the game under mod queries! As stated in the original post, we'll put one of these up once every three months or so. We want to make sure our game is fun for everyone who wants to join us, and we welcome input from our players! After all, there would be no Etraya without you! Not really a question but a teeensy suggestion: maybe finding a term specific for the “mini/optional missions” to sort of separate it, so ppl don’t get confused by same terms?

So big meaty stuff (Labyrinth) = mission, and mini/optional ones (coffee dates) = uhh … task? Idk! I didn’t get that far 😅

I have two that I'd be happy to brainstorm on and facilitate!

(1) There's a pool at the X-Mansion that I'd love to open to more people if a pool mingle is something people would like to interact in. Something lighthearted, sort of like a get-to-know-you social mingle. Maybe a barbecue and some beer? Kids welcome!

(2) The mansion also has a working Danger Room with programmable scenarios if people want to train up their reflexes against solid-light/holographic enemies! Storm can be handwaved as someone just around and observing for safety reasons for this sort of action-y thing :) I think this can help people be even passingly familiar with what other characters can do before missions take place.

CHARACTER: gorgug thistlespring from dimension 20: fantasy high! one of them dnd games, ayee. he is a 6'4 half-orc who went from being an awkward barbarian axe-swinger, to a less awkward (but still sorta awkward) artificer (techno-magic maker) who still swings an axe. but now knows maths.

he is part of the bad kids adventuring group which involves adaine, fabian, and riz (who are currently here, that is). he is 17 and loves metal music and somehow naming his homunculi/metal bird cloaca instead of chloe. because his mind kind of goes places.
CHARACTER INFO: gorgug here is confused about this entire "we have to represent our universe so it doesn't explode" even though it also kinda feels the nonsense he and the bad kids would wind up in. honestly p rude to take him in the middle of being murdered by schoolwork (not literally, for once!!)

he will...go along...with things, but won't have any immediate plans. knowing what is actually up about this apparent deal would be cool?? but this is gorgug, honestly. ask him in a week or month what he wants to do.

also even if he isn't at school and his entire universe is in danger, he should probably...keep up his studies, if he can.

CR NOTES: i'm a go with the flow sorta person but ig youngsters around his age (17), people into tinkering with gadgetry! i don't mind people being weird about his half-orcness if that would be a thing.

CHARACTER INFO: Oh, boy! If you only knew someone was already doing that! xD Nuvia is coming into the game after she got her ass beaten up by her friend who decided to betray her for funsies! It doesn't help she lost a friend to old man syndrome (may you rest in peace, Dr. Voss :( ) a couple of hours before the betrayal was revealed. Right now, she's feeling sore but proud for having made her friends new bff bleed or else they would have killed her after destroying an entire city off the map.

ANYWAY! Nuvia will not take the whole issue about her world going to go kaboot without finding her mom first! 8| So she'll be determined to represent her world as best as she can but once she makes friends, well....she'll do whatever in her power to make her new friends look good instead.

All you need to know about Nuvia is she is determined on getting stronger! Expect her to find strong people of all types to challenge and befriend! YOU WILL BE HER FRIEND ONCE SHE TAKES AN INTEREST IN YOU. SORRY NOT SORRY IT'S THE RULES!
CR NOTES: I'm searching for all types of CR. Very open in making new friends of all types, one-sided friendships can definitely be a thing for her, CR she'll have the hardest time remembering their names, future telepathic partners, mentor types, found family, training buddies, a cute romance would be nice but I know it'll be almost an impossible mission to accomplish (because she doesn't believe there is anyone in the world/universe she will ever be right for), and even negative CR (this is the aspect she is most used to back home).
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Nuvia wants to explore this new world and everything it has to offer. She wants to learn about other worlds and universes. Learn about their civilizations, cultures, and etc. It's all part of her Nevu ancestry. Additionally, she wants to be helpful to others as well. She may take up on the AI's challenge in wanting to find a way to help protect other worlds from getting destroyed especially for characters who disappear (no worry fam she'll figure a way to represent you). In her mind, she feels she has a couple of million years of life in her so she'll be okay in wanting to research it. Otherwise, Nuvia is open to exploring, getting stronger, meeting new people, and making all kinds of connections now that she is free to be herself.

ABOUT YOU: i like to read comics except also comics suck. usually i follow dc (bats, supers, flash, sometimes lanterns) and marvel (mostly xmen and the young avengers) sometimes! outside of that, i used to game but don't have the time for it anymore, there's a bunch of book series i've read through/..some that need catching up on. i've got an outdated character list here which probably better shows my interests than me trying to remember what i'm into. my plurk tl is a lot of rp commentary (i also play damian wayne brat here!), comics bitching, and occasional work yelling.

CHARACTER: Sam(il), an OC from the same universe as sow who also apped in this round!
CHARACTER INFO: I've got info and world history posts but tl;dr: Sam's an early twenties nephilim(ish) who likes to start fights with things bigger than him just to see what happens. He's rowdy and occasionally playflirty, and ignores other people's bubbles because personal space doesn't exist. He doesn't lie, ever, and he can be a little stupidly blunt at times. It's intentional.

He won't be happy with being displaced and brought there, but mostly because he's busy thanks. Sam doesn't give two shits about his world and thinks it's probably better if it does just die off on its own, but he does have a few people back there he cares about that he'd like to not die, so.

While he's spent a while on his own, he's also used to working with others and will likely be figuring out what everyone else's deal is. Partially because he's nosy, and partially because Sam functions better watching someone else's back.
CR NOTES: Anything! Sam's relatively easy to get along with for most people. People to spar with for funsies (he's durable, and heals fast), people to antagonize just to see where it goes, friends to hang with, enemies to start unending fights with.

He is a friendly guy by nature and easy to get along with, so he'll probably make some new friends in no time and manage to settle in at an apartment as he wraps his head around the impending end of his universe.

CHARACTER INFO: Awful gangly youth from 1980s Indiana, made of 50% anger and 50% loyalty to his friends. This guy's familiar enough with multidimensional crises that he won't be completely lost, but he was taken right in the middle of trying to save his girlfriend from the US government so he'll probably spend the first several weeks making that everyone's problem and refusing to cooperate. Even after that it's going to take a lot of work to get him to chill out and make friends. He already has, like, five friends, okay? Why would he want anymore? And don't even THINK about trying to look after him, he's almost fifteen which is practically an adult!

Under his bad attitude he's actually a decent kid who is very interested in helping out and saving his world. He just has to be re-socialized like a feral cat first. Once he calms down he's a very proficient strategist (thanks D&D) who is going to have Opinions about everything going on, and who will definitely be getting in the way of people twice his age while trying to stay involved.

CR NOTES: Open to it all! Fellow youths, concerned adults, people for him to antagonize, cool people to look up to. I love borderline-negative CR with this kid, but I also love people trying to surrogate-parent his surly ass. Also fellow nerd types, and eventually maybe even some pals to play D&D with.

CHARACTER INFO: Kaworu is an alien creature called an angel that was forcefully put into human form by people with bad intentions for the world! So he's very detached and tends to view humans as insufficient creatures with a myriad of emotional and philosophical problems. He does not find the end of the world to be much of a problem as it's sort of his whole thing.

HOWEVER, he desperately wants to be at the cool kids table.

Unfortunately for him and unlike his wonderful bishounen gay Boba Fett anime counterpart, this Kaworu has like the worst social skills and is distinctly inhuman. But he's very curious about humans (and others!) all the same and to know what it's like to feel emotions like sadness, friendship, or even love.
CR NOTES: teenage boys that he can hit crush on, girls he can chill with and will kick him when he's inappropriate. Basically all other teens. And nonhumans!

CHARACTER: Chrissy Cunningham from Stranger Things
CHARACTER INFO: Every school has the cute, sweet girl that everyone inexplicably loves. Chrissy is that girl. A good majority of horror movies have that same girl; the one that typically dies first. Chrissy is also that girl.

She was just a girl trying to survive high school - and her mother - before Vecna decided to take an interest in her. She was pulled moments after her death and dropped into a luxury cruise ship where she was told in no uncertain terms that there was no way for her to get home. Being stranded there for a year gave her a lot of time to think, and she's ultimately come to the conclusion that she's better off dead now than she ever was in Hawkins.

Her feelings about Hawkins are complicated(tm), but I think she'll ultimately want to try to save it (and the world, obviously) because there are people there that she loves and misses. Chrissy's good at making friends and relating to people because she tends to treat everyone equally regardless of their appearance or social circle.

And listen. If starting a cat colony is on the table, she is down. Girl's never been allowed to have a pet.
CR NOTES: It feels like cheating to say "everything", but that's what I'm about to do. Chrissy is open and friendly and willing to give pretty much everyone a chance, so I don't see her having much in the way of negative CR. Though, people who don't like her for whatever reason would be entertaining. Honestly, I think the only thing I'm not looking for specifically is negative CR just for the sake of having it.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I enjoy horror elements as much as I enjoy cute fluffiness tbh. Chrissy's canon is horror and her previous game was horror so this wouldn't be her first brush with that sort of thing. She's also just nosy enough to want to try to dig into why everyone was brought here in the first place. And sure, she's not really the action/adventure girl type, but I can see her wanting to get involved in exploring the world at large after she's settled in a bit.

CHARACTER: This is Kurohara Tokio! He's the protagonist of Choujin X, a superhero(?) manga by the creator of Tokyo Ghoul.

CHARACTER INFO: Tokio was already quitting high school and running away from home to go find himself/train/become a more competent person so This Is Fine. He's a well-meaning guy, fairly awkward, recently accidentally became a superhuman who's getting too much attention from supervillains.

CR NOTES:
1. superhero role models! his canon doesn't have a lot of the typical capes and secret identifies stuff, so it would be fun to have him learning and training with supers who are from more typical superhero canons.
2. friends! teenagers hanging out together doing normal teen activities (cute girls??).
3. influences! Tokio is very much the type to get caught up in what other people are doing and go with the flow, despite him currently trying to get better at not doing that.

CHARACTER INFO: logan's that one very identifiable x-men who's got claws coming out of his knuckles, looks cool smoking cigars, calls people bub, and can't seem to die (except for the one time he did, but this one's before that). he's coming from near the end of days of future past where he's trying to fix his own timeline where his kind is beginning to go extinct, so he knows a bit about world-saving missions. he likes to act all gruff and the loner time but he's a natural babysitter and softie, even if he gets a kick out of being a little shit when he can.
CR NOTES: using the cheat option of all kinds! logan tends to get mixed up with a wide variety of people and can either be a thorn in someone's side, a protector, a teammate, a father/uncle figure, etc. he's an x-men which consists of every kind of weirdo you can think of, so he can definitely branch out well with meeting people.

CHARACTER: Doc Ock from Our Childhoods (maybe)! No Way Home reawakened my love of this guy lmao. Otto's a genuinely good-natured if somewhat prideful guy who was completely normal until he fucked up his nuclear experiment badly and became an evil octopus man and everything went totally nuts.

He is, at this point, no longer particularly supervillainous, but he does still have the giant robot arms. Also PTSD. Also the arms are semi-sentient maybe but like don't sweat it

CHARACTER INFO: Otto was fully ready to die upon returning to his own dimension and honestly he is not thrilled to be faced with this instead! He'll do his best, but he sort of suspects they were aiming for his version of Spiderman and missed. He’s got a semi-canonmate here in the form of Tiny Spiderman, so he'll probably be trying to look out for him as a main priority and just...figure the rest out as he goes.

CR NOTES: I tend to just vibe and see what happens in this regard, but other science types, I suppose? Maybe also some older folks to befriend, there’s a lot of teenagers here. He’s only in his early fifties but look at him no one has ever had worse back problems

CHARACTER: Barnabas Tharmr from Final Fantasy XVI
CHARACTER INFO: Barnabas will not feel too much of anything about being brought here and put to the task of proving his world worth saving world—mostly because that was already the duty he had been given in his own canon, more or less. The fact he is now here having to do it through these strange missions and the like is...inconvenient, but he isn't exactly bothered. Whatever gets the task done, whatever saves them from their impending doom, that's what matters to him. Though, he isn't here to make friends, really. He looks down on forging bonds and making meaningful connections, even emotions themselves, all because his religion and God says no to that shit. However, he will use someone's perceived bond for his own ends, seeing it as a weakness to exploit. Just kind of an unapologetic manipulative type when it comes down to it, really.

Over all, he's pretty taciturn and moody, he exudes apathy and ennui which otherwise permeates his entire being. He's not fond of people, or mankind in general, but those not magically inclined (so normal humans, typically) tend to not be worth his time or effort. However, combat and conflict does seem to interest him, and so while he isn't one to rush off into a battle or anything, he is far more motivated to get involved in something the more combat heavy it is. He is grossly overpowered, even for others of his kind (he's something known as a Dominant...I know, I know...), and so he finds himself bored and dissatisfied with almost everything. Just utterly and incurably depressed. Just drowning in his anhedonia something fierce.

CR NOTES: I think it would be interested to find people who can challenge him. Not just in a fighting way, but in his beliefs and stances on things. He is pretty set in his ways, and supremely stubborn, but being removed from his world and the primary influence that keeps him rooted in place will be an interesting struggle for him to contend with. Likewise, I am also down for him being a Problem for people. He is manipulative, and he isn't against using people for his own schemes and designs. While he is very measured with the suffering he causes—only aiming to do exactly what is required for his efforts to bear fruit—he is here for people if they want to go down a dark path of some sort. Which is also to say I love negative CR, so if someone is wanting to cook up some fun negative CR with my shitty asshole depressed man, then by all means, I am offering him for exactly that!

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I am interested in all sorts of things. I love horror, I love action and combat, but I also do love room for softer things at times. There needs to be room for levity or a break from the more intense things to fully appreciate it, imo! Barnabas will lean far more towards the former, with a specific disinterest in things that would otherwise build close connections with others, but that makes them all the more interesting to me! I love making my characters deal with conflict (internal or otherwise), even if the conflict is born of something soft because they're too stubborn and set in their grumpy old man ways to appreciate it.

CHARACTER: Aelwyn Abernant from Fantasy High, plus three years of CRAU from a game themed around the Magnus Archives
CHARACTER INFO: Aelwyn... couldn't give less of a shit about her world. Either her original world or the world she arrived from. She's a self interested asshole with a palpable amount of resentment for the world around her, and has shifted from being a competent and potentially dangerous henchman to an active supervillain. Having said that, there is one person in the universe that she'll sacrifice anything and anyone for, and she doesn't know which world she's ended up in so she'll have to fight her absolute hardest to save her world just in case she's there.

Aelwyn became an Avatar of the Desolation in her time on Earth, meaning she has to feed on people's fear of pain or losing everything instead of like, eating food or sleeping. Don't worry though, she mostly feeds on other "monsters", whatever her definition of that is at the moment. Regardless, she is capable of being friendly and making friends. She tends to be playfully mean and casually flirty, and used to be a "party animal" to escape the stress of her traumatic upbringing and the pressures of magical elf private school. And despite what a lot of her exterior presents there is a very present part of her that cares very deeply for the people she allows into her life. Her sister, for one, you may have heard of her.
CR NOTES: Aelwyn tends to gravitate towards people who can play off her energy. Fellow smug bastards and morally dubious rich kids, people who have a particularly strong relationship to magic or the arcane in general, or people with a similarly terrible relationship with the context of "family." However, she also tends to attract negative CR which I'm also 100% down with. Moralizers for her to clash with, people she'd look at and try to feed on in some way, anyone who might find her lack of humanity to be offputting and dangerous (it is). Or even people recognizing her as the victim that she is and trying to sincerely help her. The only thing I'm not looking for is a ship atm, since she's very much taken. Flirting is more than fine though, and it's her preferred method of manipulating people lol.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Very much interested in a healthy mix of horror and mystery, as well as opportunities for characters to both work together and clash horribly. But I also like having downtime, which makes the new setup ideal! I've really enjoyed my time in the game so far and I think the mods are doing a great job.

CHARACTER INFO: If you combine the songs Blank Space by Taylor Swift and Fergalicious by Fergie, you get Rosie as a person. She's a hypersexual nightmare dressed as a daydream who thought she died so honestly being here is kind of an awesome second chance in her mind. She has spent her life the last few years basically being the person - specifically rich older men who want to fuck her - most desired in the moment. As a result, she doesn't really like to let people get to know the real her... because she also thinks the real her is pretty ugly, oops. While a bit emotionally driven, she is also emotionally disregulated. She tends to be easily jealous, petty, and horribly insecure... But! She also loves music, cares deeply about those she considers friends, and truly just wants a quiet simple life with lots of dogs even if she doesn't realize that yet.
CR NOTES: I'm new so excited for any and all CR, but do have some CR goals in mind!

❥ As mentioned, she was a courtesan for the upper echelon so she tends to gravitate towards seeking the attention of (toxic, awful) older men for validation. If anyone is interested in exploiting this like her ex-boyfriend/boss did...!!! Let me know because I'm absolutely down.
❥ She tends to be a wham, bam, thank you ma'am for the one night stand kind of person... but also prone to catching feelings to anyone nice to her for more than 5 consecutive minutes so also cute little crushes (unrequited or not) are fun for me to play with.
❥ I absolutely love love love CR that ends up being platonic or NOT revolving around sex to help Rosie develop in ways she learns that she has worth outside of sex and her looks. This is more long form and I'm down for bumps in the road (like her making advances and being turned down but throwing a fit, etc.) if others are but also fine with just cute friendships!!!
❥ Overall, I like playing with the "messiness" and hypersexual aspects of Rosie but can definitely tone it down and have cute CR about her musical interests, love of adventure, etc.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I'm most interested in the horror and adventure/exploration aspects of games! Rosie is a person that doesn't like to be static or feel stuck so she tends to impulsively jump on chances to have fun... and not want to be accountable for the consequences of those decisions sometimes, alas. CHARACTER INFO: Muriel is an angel at the absolute rock bottom of Heaven's angelic hierarchy, (their official title is 37th Order Scrivener, which means they're basically a junior paralegal) and they've spent most of their existence alone in the world's worst open office. They are basically a friendly golden retriever in a police helmet, they are laughably bad at passing for a Regular Human, and they are doing their best!

CRAU-wise, Muriel spent a few months in The City, which means that they've had a tiny bit of experience with weird human things like 'hunger' and 'sleep', and have even tentatively eaten some food and made a few friends. If Muriel had a nickel for every time they woke up in a weird, nearly-empty city without remembering how they'd arrived there, they'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot of money, but it's weird that it happened twice!

CR NOTES: Honestly, anything! Muriel is so glad to meet other people that it's genuinely hard to get on their bad side.

CHARACTER INFO: Having recently spent six months in a simulation of a weird empty City designed to study community cohesion in order to rebuild after an apocalypse, Johanna's general response to being dropped in a weird city designed to prevent an apocalypse is


Frankly, it's going to take her a couple weeks to accept that this isn't just a new version of where she just was, and she may never totally shake the idea that this is a simulation. We shall see!

Before the City, though, Johanna was an exorcist and occultist in London, solving supernatural problems for rich Britons at exorbitant fees, while being a shitty girlfriend with a fear of commitment and huge communication problems like "ghosting the woman you've been living with and accidentally leaving a deadly magical artifact with her." Before that, she was a punk who watched a little girl get dragged into Hell and was subsequently institutionalized for two years on suspicion of the girl's murder.

In short, she's Constantine. She loves people deeply, hurts them badly, and always puts herself first. And fuck does she want to go back to London, and if that means saving her universe -- all right, but she's a piss poor representative and she knows it.
CR NOTES:

• I would LOVE CR with other urban fantasy types, horror canons, people with connections to Heaven and Hell and the divine/ethereal, and so forth!
• Drinking buddies, as Constantine fails to deal with change well.
• Flirtation buddies, as Constantine fails to deal with change well. (I always love a good one-night-stand, or even a ship, but I like to see how things develop organically!)
• Reconnecting with anyone she met on the TDM! I've been enjoying all my threads there.
• Negative CR! Constantine is not a nice person and I'm all for her bullshit rubbing people the wrong way.
• Jo is pretty protective of kids and is mad as hell that ANOTHER place has decided the best way to solve a universe-level problem is "traumatize teenagers," but she's also wigged out by the responsibility of helping said teens. If your teen would benefit from the kind of adult who's equally likely to mentor them, swear at them, or slip them booze, possibly all at the same time, Constantine will fit the bill.
• And the classic "really anything!" I like strong personalities bouncing off each other and seeing what happens. I do prefer my slice of life and fluff as a delicious side dish or sorbet rather than the main entree.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Very interested in horror elements, and in solving puzzles! The mystery of why they're all here is definitely intriguing. And while Johanna may not consider herself a good representative of her home universe, she does want to figure out what's going on so she can game the system and cheat.
