Mission 13 Wrap-Up

Mission 13 Wrap-Up

We're trying something new with this post as a result of a few pieces of feedback we've gotten. Let us know what you think and if this is helpful! In the future, this would go up at the conclusion of missions in a more timely fashion.

Major Events on Mission 13
  • Characters were generally successful in documenting Mesa, and some brought back seeds and biological samples
  • Anyone who explored a research or terraforming plant could have discovered some substantiating information about the decline of the universe
  • No one pursued finding a way to save the residents of Mesa, so they are doomed along with the world itself
  • Dante and Vergil sparred and wrecked some grasslands, leaving a small canyon behind
Mission Forecast
Handy link to the calendar. Note that plans are always subject to change based on player interest and mod availability!

  • March - lighter tone, taking place in Etraya on-planet, a few darker options
  • May - heavy, serious, meta-plot related; off-world; characters can limit exposure to intense themes but can't avoid entirely without a mission pass (AC reward)
Until Next Time
Players are always welcome (and strongly encouraged!) to develop Etraya in between missions. Want more societal structure? Think your character needs a job? Go for it! Use this post to comment below with what your plans are for the time between missions, and see if others are interested.

We'd like to highlight that there's been a lot of activity at the Louvre, and building that up as a cultural hub might be of interest to multiple characters.

Historically, we've also had several players come to us between missions with plots they want to dig into via our plotting post! This included digging into Aurora's origins as well as asking what they could discover about Echo or the game plot as a whole via exploring around Etraya during their mission downtime. We always want to encourage our playerbase to come to us if they want something meatier to dig into, and we'll do our best to build something suitable to what you're looking for!

Genre Poll
What are you interested in seeing next? This is essentially a vibe check -- if the player base is swinging in a different direction than what we planned, we're open to changing those plans!

Major event for mission 13

Sorry this is so late!! Sunday, John Reese, Accelerator (and Sleipnir who was dropped) found the following:

Pinpricks of light can be seen in the sky faintly and intermittently at night. Extensive metallic debris fields in their solar system block much of the light during the nighttime period.

For the purposes of world-building, some additional information that is absolutely not fact-checked by an astrophysicist but maybe could be found at a research station: Mesa is orbiting a dying star, probably a white dwarf. As the white dwarf degrades over millions of years, it emits less heat and light, and Mesa starts to detach from its gravitational pull, eventually spinning out into the galaxy and going rogue.

Mesa is somewhere (undetermined) in this overall process, but its fate is ultimately inevitable over a long enough time scale. The previous Evil Empire™, the Citadel, faded away due to large-scale astronomic events. The research stations will contain some traces of information predicting things along these lines, though it was not their focus of study.

So Sunday over here is interested in establishing more social order and structure in Etraya, even if that means finding someone to "lead" the people. He wants to be the leader, but figures he can do that more effectively by playing the long political game first.

Note that his ultimate agenda here is both to create order so he feels more comfortable and in control AND, ESPECIALLY...to take over Etraya from Echo. He feels Echo is at the limit of their power, and surely he can use it better and can find a way to save all worlds, not just a select few. He has not told anyone about this plan, but it may come up in his introspection.

Will he succeed? Likely not, but as long as he devotes himself entirely to an insane scheme, he doesn't have to think about getting therapy.

Sunday is also the manager of the IC Data Repository and is your man if your character has any info to add!

Re: Major events for Mission 13:

We're still threading it out, but Gustave and Renoir worked together to restore power to the Lux when the lights went out!

In between missions:

Gustave has two projects he'd be working on, both of which I could probably use some guidance on from mods in terms of how successful he'd be:

1. He wants to improve/optimize the tram system. It's very slow and inefficient right now, and he's been wanting to work on it basically since he arrived. As far as ability goes, he has a background of civil engineering work that he can put to use for it (I do not, so some amount of work he'd do would have to be handwaved or quite vague in description). I'm not sure how far he'd get on that or where he/I should look to get it going (I think Viktor and some other engineering types also had it on their agenda?) but it's definitely a point of interest for him and a way he feels like he can help the community.

2. Without getting into too many details, Gustave is at a disadvantage with his team because he didn't get to level up the way they did in canon. He and Lune have therefore been pondering if it's possible to adjust the Lumina converter to utilize energy other than chroma. If they succeed, it could be helpful for way more than just Gustave — the principles behind the way the converter works have to do with energy consumption, conversion, and expenditure. I've been stuck on it because I'm not sure what other energy might be comparable (chroma is essentially their life force) but putting it out there because it's his other major project.

Thanks for the great info, mods! I'm definitely going to be sinking my teeth into both of these, and will probably move them over to the plotting post for further discussion. But just to give you a heads up of my current thoughts:

1. some IC movement can be made in the next few weeks with this... I'll have Gustave check in with Aurora and probably make a network post, then work to thread some specific things out and update from there.

2. I think there's a LOT of cool stuff that could be done with this as soon as Gustave and Lune find out that Echo's cosmic energy might be comparable. He might also ask Aurora about this, but it might be ICly possible for him and Lune to come to that conclusion on their own. Either way, because of Gustave's canonical work with chroma in his universe (not just for the converter but also for the shield that keeps Lumiere safe) I think there could be some very fun implications to play around with.

I'm gonna noodle on it a bit longer but will hop over to the plotting post to start hashing things out soon!

In between missions:

Accelerator has been working with Harold on understanding the math on Echo's diary entries, and that was recently publicized. I figure he'll continue along with that metaplot. He's a walking particle accelerator with a specialty in physics (classical and quantum), so he's an extremely good person to go to when it comes to that and complex math. He isn't limited to math from his own universe and canonly is able to incorporate other universes and magic into his calculations. Beings like Echo exist in his canon so he isn't too surprised, and I think ultimately would like to make some kind of contact or communicate with Echo. Saving his own universe is still a big priority for him as well.

He also runs Ramsey Farm, a safe space for anyone under 18. Basically that means he makes sure the age rules are enforced (15-17 yr olds can hang out if they do some work, 18+ are only allowed on property if they're working), and making sure the farm doesn't fall into disrepair. If you're an adult and are loitering on property he will kick your ass lol.

Accelerator has been in game a long time and thus has acquired a whole lot of meta knowledge! I've tried to make things public but I don't believe all of it is, and there are some things he would consider sensitive (the barrier, Aurora's brain location). Here's a list for reference if there is anything anyone would like to know or explore:

- He's friends with Aurora! Sometimes he goes to the hospital and plays cards with her.
- I think he's the only remaining person in Etraya who has a keycard to the currently locked lower levels of the hospital, which contains areas where companion bots are built, location/structures/items are built, and where Aurora's brain is. He and a few others did a whole dungeon dive in 2024.
- He has some mathematical data on the barrier and planet!
- He's aware that death losses are permanent in Etraya, and every time Echo sends someone home or brings someone here they lose something. He made a network post about this a while ago.
- He helped figure out the math on Echo's diary pages and understands it.
- He knows people are locked in to saving their own universe. Person A from Universe A can't save Universe B in place of Person B.
- He knows prohibiting items isn't something Aurora can necessarily do.
- He knows Aurora can't provide status updates on people who have left.

So far the only real plot contribution Knife's made is identifying some kind of very faint transmutation/creation magic that lingers on a person who has died in Etrayan stuff; they told Jayce, and Accelerator is aware (since he was a subject squinted at), but if anyone else knows, it'd have to be thru those two.
