FEBRUARY STATE OF THE GAME
 ⏵ February State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello, Etrayans! Welcome to February! We hope you enjoyed the Quantum Rail mission! While we're aware the ending of this mission is still being played out, we wanted to make sure our newcomers weren't arriving on the tail end of a large plot. To this end, we have worked with what all of you have submitted to decide a vague conclusion to the plot so that those still playing in it have wiggle room to interact, but we can get PCs back to Etraya proper! After the PCs approaching the King, remove him from the locomotive, those who have been residing on the train long-term will be taking over navigating it through the cosmos using the star charts from the sealed carriage. The train will, mysteriously appear close to Etraya once more, allowing them to drop off PCs on their little planet before they continue forward and attempt to find a new home for themselves. Details outside of this will be figured out as mission threads continue! We just wanted to give a little summary for those who may want to know how it ends before continuing forward with threads on Etraya proper. We know we have a few reward requests pending, and will get to them shortly! We are working on a few map updates and location page changes in support of today's mingle log, and plan on getting to rewards after we complete those. Additionally, we wanted to note that the Library Mission featured on the TDM was a success! All pieces of the pearl have been found. While this is true, we're still handing out rewards for those who search for pieces, so please feel free to continue submitting requests! We also wanted to note that we will be swapping to bi-monthly applications. This is to support our log schedule a little better, given we know the quick adjust from mingles to mission does discourage mingle participation! Applications will not be open for our March round, but will re-open April. We will continue to open applications on non-mission months going forward. We realize this announcement is a little sudden! In support of this, if anyone was planning a last minute application, we will keep them open until Saturday, February 15th to give anyone who had been planning on joining next month the chance to get in this month. Don't forget your Activity! This is just a comment with your handle and characters' names for new players. ABOUT YOU: I'm a crafty person (like doing things with my hands, dabble in art, crochet, more art, writing, drawing, polymer clay, oh hey more crochet, sewing, quilts and pretty much anything I can manage to execute in my apartment safely), I am an abstract enabler who sometimes whispers ideas that sometimes stick in other peoples brains. I've been focused on the Final Fantasy genre of late, but love a lot of movies, books, music that... well, sometimes it might all seem a bit old fashioned.
Tend to enjoy writing tags in prose but have and will happily go with a scene flow. Can't always boomerang tags because my mind gets a bit unfocused, but I also try not to keep people waiting for too long. Please let me get warmed up!
CHARACTER: Gaia - FFXIV (CRAU from Children of Bahamut)
CHARACTER INFO: Gaia is a seventeen year old Hume (Human) girl with a clear sense of fashion and tastes. While she has a vibe of 'rich girl', she also has no problem rolling her sleeves up and learning something new. She can be a bit brusque and prickly ('forthright' would be the polite term) but she does have a good heart behind it. Her time bonded to a dragon soul in another world has also left a mark of curiosity and an interest in exploring that borders on a sense of wanderlust.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I'm here for all sorts of plots. I don't particularly like drama for the sake of playing out drama (it's just not my cup of tea) and enjoy all kinds of CR. This can be negative or positive in the end. Gaia will be more than a bit frustrated with all this otherworldly summoning that's going on in her life and probably a lot more invested in the overarching, behind the scenes issues with Etraya.
Dang it she just wants to stay in one place and go home, enough with the mystery summons!

ABOUT YOU: Currently playing Identity V, Arknights, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, sometimes Honkai Star Rail, and currently eyeing a lot of indie games.
CHARACTER: Ithaqua from Identity V
CHARACTER INFO:
Ithaqua is... an impulsive asshole who doesn't like humans, though his definition of "human" is extremely narrow (if you're human but have magic or something, then he doesn't consider you human and thus is ok in his book, that kinda thing). He's far more welcoming to non-humans, though he can get territorial if he manages to carve out a space for himself in the setting. He also has an extremely faulty memory due to Circumstances, so he may forget some things within a day or so, apologies in advance-- but this is also why he's so impulsive and messy, he lives to the fullest every day since he knows he'll forget things soon enough... Though sometimes living to the fullest for him means chasing someone down for fun like a dog that's found a flock of ducks. Oops! Please don't get trampled by the stilts.
He's still young for an eldritch abomination, but some people call him the Abominable Snowman. Yes, that abominable snowman. That's him. Also he's almost 200 but he looks 20-something, just immortal things. Don't mind the mask though, that's just A Thing that is part of the Ithaqua aesthetic (TM), just like the hood with the giant bat (or bunny?) ears. Also those ears move sometimes, that's also just something weird with Ithaqua.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:
I LIKE HORROR. I REALLY LIKE HORROR. ahem.
I wouldn't turn down nice chill things, or adventure threads that end with discovering goodies or lore, but I really do enjoy horror themes the most. Ithaqua is technically from a horror game despite the cutesy art style so horror threads fit him quite well.
In any case, I really want a lot of threads with people, get the ball rolling when it comes to CR and maybe some development later on. I'm still deciding whether or not I want to bring in a bit of his forest here, or have him carve out his own territory to be protective over, we shall see!

CHARACTER INFO: This man's a dick. He's brutally honest, unafraid of insulting people, and has absolutely no patience for incompetence whether it's real or he's wrong about it. He's also from 2003, the word "woke" wasn't common usage at the time and he's a boomer. I'm very sorry about him.

CHARACTER INFO: OKAY SO Quentin is currently getting his postgrad at Brakebill's University for Magical Pedagogy, which means he's a magician. He's also a depressed introverted bisexual disaster whose special interest is a children's book series that's basically the Chronicles of Narnia without all the overt Christianity (which he just found out is based on a real place!!!). BIG sad wet cat energy.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: OK SO, he'd JUST found out that other worlds were real and now he's. in another world. this is basically The Big Important Quest that he's secretly wanted all his life. he's going to want to get into this, though how good he is at it will vary.
on basic levels, I want him to make friends and find people to care about. I also want to find a way to get him back on the anti-depressants his asshole of a dean manipulated him into not taking because in his canon, magic is fueled by pain and he needed to be juiced up. He also needs to figure out how to make his magic work in Etraya. it's a whole Thing.

CHARACTER: Kaeya Alberich - Genshin Impact
CHARACTER INFO: Kaeya hit the ground running in the tdm and put his knight investigator skills to work. He isn't the sort to fully show how a situation affects him (he isn't happy with any of it). He acts casual and somewhat lazy, but he never misses details. Dodges anything emotionally sincere or deep. Once he is around for a while, he will relax and let a few things slip.
He's a friendly guy who mostly gets along with anyone. That part isn't an act. Keeping all his shit inside and saying he's fine? That's the actor mask. He's skeptical for right now but, as he learns the truth he will have to process that. Probably. Maybe. Or he can do that thing a lot of people do. Bury it and move on. We'll see what goes.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: I'm super curious about all of these missions. I want to dig into how they end up happening. Kaeya is a friendly guy who wants to investigate everything. I love horror, supernatural, investigation, etc. I'm happy to be here and have fun. I've had a blast on the tdm and eager for more.

CHARACTER: Sergeant Valorem Gadriel from Warhammer 40k Space Marine II
CHARACTER INFO: Okay, Space Marines are basically feral opossums in huge and overpowered bodies. He has zero social skills and comes from a world where basically everything is a trigger warning but he thinks it's normal. He hates sorcery and heresy and aliens. He has spent his entire life around men exactly like him so he will *struggle* with things like, ya know, women? Children? Men who aren't also 8-10 foot tall genetically modified super soldier manchildren?
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Gadriel is basically a paladin archetype, but for the Emperor and space racism. So he's all about protecting the weak and fighting enemies. He will definitely be suspicious about being brought here and want to get to the bottom of that and also probably hurt people for kidnapping him against his will and taking him away from his war.
HOWEVER and I do mean how, and ever, I'm also up for any cuteness you can imagine, with a nine foot tall overpowered dork.
Or also dark stuff though my tags will probably be longer and need more cw than fluffy stuff. If you're down for that I am too!
Also, Warhammer is a deliberately over the top parody of grimdark so basically the entire canon is a trigger warning. I will try to use cw well but if there's ever anything you do not want to deal with with him, let me know bc I can easily delete and retag something less, uh, horrifyingly accurate to canon.

ABOUT YOU: hellooooo i'm completely new here. feel free to add me on plurk, it's a mix of real life chatter and rp. i decided 2024 and 2025 was the perfect time to pick up a character from the popular hit movie from 2015 mad max fury road. i'm also really into severance right now and doing a rewatch in addition to the new season. quick warning that my work is directly tied to the american political situation happening right now and it is a Time so if my tagging suddenly seems sporadic you can blame whatever newest development is on the news lol.
CHARACTER: Furiosa of Mad Max (Fury Road/Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga)
CHARACTER INFO: Apocalyptic truck driver that was stolen as a child from her isolationist matriarchal lesbian biker gang that enjoyed gardening. Furiosa is stubborn, resilient, and resolved and has lived a life marked my hardship and loss. She's like six feet tall and intimidating enough to feel like she's even taller than that. Gruff and no-nonsense in her approach, won't coddle adults. You may get a wry smile or remark out of her if you know her well enough. Slightly more personable than her counterpart wandering around here somewhere, but she's fluent in his grunting. Also, she only has one arm.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: honestly i'm really into exploring deep and complicated interpersonal dynamics and character relationships, tentative building of trust, alliances, and even friendships (or more!). Furiosa will be struggling with a lot of latent survivor's guilt and reflecting on the tough choices she's had to make to survive and the others that she's lost along the way. i also really want her to be able to mentor younger kids or teenagers. healing yourself by being the adoptive parent you deserved but never got.

ABOUT YOU: I prefer prose tags because I do a lot of them on mobile, but I can match. I'm rarely at boomerang speed but I think of myself as steady. I've been really into dollhouses lately and have been getting back into Lord of the Rings, which is a troubling combination that could vanish me down a hobbit hole for a while.
CHARACTER: Popp from Dragon Quest: Adventure of Dai, specifically the 2020 remake anime. He's also a CRAU from Children of Bahamut, because two of his friends are here.
CHARACTER INFO: A sensitive and hot-tempered teenage mage who has a lot of feelings about friendship and responsibility and doing the right thing. He's a good kid with a soft heart under all the posturing and teasing.
PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: Action! Adventure! I like making Popp upset and/or worked up whether it is from slapstick shenanigans I can push him into or from The Horrors or even from emotional vulnerability.
