⏵ August State of the Game and Arrivals ⏴ Hello, Etrayans! Thank you to those who reached out to us when we put out a call for additional moderators! We've added to our team, and have some fun plans going forward that we hope you'll enjoy! With the added manpower we've gotten, we've opted to remove the ten players per application round cap we had previously. We removed this just before this last app round, but given we hadn't made an official announcement yet - here it is! As of September's application round, players in the game can app up to three characters, instead of our current two. We will also return to having TDMs every other month instead of every three months. For some missions, we will not have a set date for the conclusion log. We will have a limit on how long the mission can continue but will leave the ending more open-ended to allow players to influence the conclusion. This upcoming mission is a good example: we have the starting date of September 13th on the calendar, which is when the first log will go up. There is a mingle log on September 27th, but no stated date for the wrap-up log. This will occur sometime between the fourth and the eighteenth of October, but we want to leave room for character actions to impact the result, and thus, not limit ourselves to a specific date. ABOUT YOU: what is a fandom? (i kid, i kid) i am here for a lot of supernatural/magical type media, space and scifi, crime dramas. i get sucked into a lot of video games and dnd but you will also never rip pokemon from my paws.

rowena is the wildest of wildcards. she's a chaotic witch who has a good heart really, it's just taken her a very long time to her to show the world it due to #trauma and the world being dicks. she's a very self-proactive character, friendly and charming when she wants something but bluntly honest otherwise. she'll likely keep her magic very hidden until she realises that other people also have powers and are open about it. and during a mission? you want her on your team!. otherwise? she's tiny and scottish and would love to chat over some tea or whiskey.

rowena's going to have a tough initial time settling in. she's coming from a canon point where she was supposed to die (to save the world!) and though her injury was given medical attention on arrival she was also... quite rude to aurora. so she's had the most basic of patching up but it going to be in a lot of pain (and very grumpy) and taking things slow and steady until she can use her magic to heal herself better. terribly sorry to anyone she harasses during this time out of her utter boredom.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: love a bit of horror, love some exploration, love some character emotions and development. rowena might... do some magic when she's recovered to try and poke at some things (so i might come poke for info/plotting/what she's allowed to do?)

ABOUT YOU: hello i'm floral! in terms of rp logistics, my tagging pace varies dramatically based on how much work i have at any given time/whether school is in session. generally speaking i am a medium-slow tagger, but happy to boomerang if needed! feel free to pm me if you want a thread to move a little faster - i do not mind. i also have lisa wilbourn here in etraya, so fandoms i'm in include the silt verses, worm, signalis, the locked tomb, interview with the vampire and disco elysium. big fan of body horror and weird sci-fi, generally!

CHARACTER: this is carpenter from horror fiction podcast the silt verses

CHARACTER INFO: carpenter is a burnt out cynical tough-as-nails introvert. previously she worked as an assassin/attack dog/courier/pilgrim for the local river god church. the job was terrible and she has since quit it, alas, death follows her wherever she goes! but she's trying to do better now. she's in her late 30's but comes across as an old woman, is a menace with an axe, and loves a nice fluffy pancake.

here is her permissions/opt out, please take a look at it because she's from a heavy folk/religious horror canon! carpenter is coming in from the end her canon, and she is not happy about it. please also let me know if you'd like to avoid spoilers!

in terms of cr, carpenter does well as a begrudging mentor, and is also excellent for a good brood on life/death/the meaning of it all. she will have a lot in common with people who are grieving, people who are just trying to get by, and people who have tried to leave cults/are dealing with other forms of religious trauma and control. she also has a sharp sense of humor, particularly when paired with someone more extroverted, so she's not all doom and gloom!

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: everything!! carpenter has a lot of survival skills and i'd love to be able to put those to use in missions. team-based activities would also be great, because carpenter is both very prickly and has a hard time turning away people who need help. such is the duality of carpenter.

so, at this point it would be easier to list the fandoms I'm not in because I've got my fingers in everything. I love all mediums and most genres so long as they're effective narratively and sometimes when they're not (supernatural lol) but overall I am a giant geek and consume media like nobody's business. if I were a dragon pop-culture bullshit would be my hoard.

with tagging, I love action, prose, and texting, and I'm good with everything. I love to boomerang (when I can) but am more often a backtagger / slow tagger. My plurk has irl things as well as media and game things, mostly there for shits and giggles.

In the game, he's gonna be gung-ho about completing his missions (within reason) because out of the frying pan and into the fire. He just saved his multiverse, god dammit, what force is pulling the strings here and could they pull those string theory silly strings a little less? Find a new tune.

He's friendly, he's annoying, blah blah blah so friends and enemies are definitely on the table. There's no such thing as bad CR, not for him. He'll grow on you, like a fungus. Move over cordyceps.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN: figuring out the world for sure but please give me stupid reality show missions, stuff that is just ridiculous that Deadpool would get off on. I'm talking about Changing Channels ala SPN or Space Jam. Let's go full camp.

ABOUT YOU: I'm a dental assistant in Vermont and these days I mostly watch LPs instead of actually playing games, I'm boring like that. CHARACTER: Kuruto Ryuki from AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative (full title)
CHARACTER INFO: Ryuki here is a Boy Scout flavored sci-fi cop who has unfortunately been through the wringer so many times that he's lost some touch with reality. On a good day, he's very polite, respectful, and earnest young man who just really wants to protect the innocent and see justice served and all that good stuff, but unfortunately it's very easy for him to have a bad day, which can mean anything from "severe emotional fragility" to "actual psychotic episodes." On top of that the amount of loss he's experienced has given him awful self-esteem and MAJOR attachment issues, and his emotional support robot therapist who lives in his eyeball isn't here to keep him in check, either, so I apologize in advance to anyone who makes the decision to be nice to him. He's really doing his best though I promise he just has a lot of mess to keep together

ABOUT YOU: I'm 36 and I'm the world's most amazing Never Have I Ever player. Oh, not that kind of fun fact. Sadly, my type of geek rarely intersects with active fandoms, but I'm into video games, books (mostly nonfiction), and board/story games. Rec me solo games! I have a corporate WFH laptop job and I frequently tag when I'm on the clock. I'm very overqualified for my job.

CHARACTER: I'm playing Linhardt from Fire Emblem: 3 Houses. Have a very in progress info page.
CHARACTER INFO: Linhardt is a +1 to team 'way behind the times', coming from a psueo-medieval fantasy realm. On the other hand, he's the token science and magic nerd and is really into esoteric things and weird math, so he's going to adjust to a 'modern' lifestyle fairly quickly. He's obsessed with magical research, especially as it relates to powers. Do you have superpowers? Or cool, magical/super items? He wants to subscribe to your newsletter! And by 'subscribe to your newsletter' he means 'bother you with a merciless amount of questions.'

On the positive side, Linhardt is a compassionate, curious person with an open mind and a love of discovery. On the negative side, the compassion is wrapped in a heavy layer of sarcasm/cynicism and he's a shameless coward. Oh, and he'll do whatever it takes to get out of being responsible for anything or putting in work out of anything other than self interest.

Do you want Linhardt on your mission team? That is entirely dependent on the mission. If it's one he has no interest in, you can fully expect him to make the minimum possible contribution to ensure success and to frequently wander off to attend to his own desires. On the other hand, if he is interested in the mission, absolutely nothing will stop him from accomplishing whatever the goal happens to be. It's like a gacha pull!

Small fact list:
- He has what amounts to magical narcolepsy. He has no idea what narcolepsy is.
- Very introverted until he learns what the Internet/the network is. He's much, much chattier over text than he is in person.
- Prone to sleeping pretty much anywhere, whether it's appropriate or not.
- Keeps very, very weird hours.
- Powerful mage (including offensively) but presents to others and sees himself as harmless. He is very uncomfortable with his self-defense capabilities.

PLOTS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN:
I'm up for pretty much everything, but special interest in/easy CR might be:

• Other science or magic nerds: For reasons, Linhardt hasn't had much of an opportunity to meet many other people whose brains also love discovering things or who thrive on curiosity. Other nerds are always welcome, especially ones that aren't from the pseudo-1400s.


• People with superpowers, supernatural abilities, or magic: As mentioned above, Linhardt's primary area of intellectual interests are the heredity of magical powers and magical theory. He wants to learn all he can about different types of powers/abilities/etc. He also has a strong interest in enchanted/supernatural/superpowered objects. Oh, and he has ZERO chill on these topics. Boundaries? What are those?


• Pacifists or, conversely, people who think pacifism is a load of BS: Linhardt is a very, very staunch pacifist. He's also loud about it. He's used to this being an extreme minority opinion and being considered naive because of it. So some back up would be nice. On the other end of the spectrum, he will argue with anyone who immediately jumps to or is okay with resorting to violence.


• Other medic/doctor/healer types: He's actually a very competent healer and frontline medic. If you can get him to agree to it.


• People concerned about all the non represented universes/who care about worlds other than their own: What about universes with nobody to defend them? This is a terrible situation! There are innocent people in all universes, you can't just only care about yours!


• People from modern canons: Help him. Please. He's so behind. He doesn't know how anything works and he has so many questions. The questions. They never end!
