JULY MISSION PLOTTING
❬ THE HERO EQUATION ❭
Everyone is given the same story when they arrive to Etraya: they are here to prove their world is worth saving.
This isn't a straight prove your worth, but given as a competition of sorts: there are many worlds, and only some of them will be saved once Echo has chosen which worlds truly are worth saving, and which aren't. Many may assume they are competing against some, but alongside others. There are numerous individuals from Runeterra, many from an Earth with a Gotham with a certain individual wearing the moniker Superman - or perhaps their Superman is different. Others may have arrived here without any recognizable companions, but among others from the same planet they have come from. Perhaps there are faces you know, but they aren't quite the same: timelines don't match up, histories don't, something is off about them. Some may have further information from Aurora regarding this: serial numbers of planets, of worlds, all nicely labeled in a system that is no longer accessible. But how does one truly know who among them is an enemy or an ally? How do you know working alongside someone truly benefits your world? Perhaps you are aiding someone whose world is similar enough, but not the same. Perhaps a child who is much older, or younger, isn't the child you know at all, but a close copy. Someone whose world is different just enough to count separately. Perhaps you are all fighting for the same world. A multiverse connected together with intricate threads, ones that cannot be untangled from another, all gathered together under the same file as far as Echo is concerned. Perhaps none of you are fighting for the same thing at all, but all warring against one another. What if only one world from Etraya is saveable? What if they all will be, depending on their performance? For those who refuse to believe anything told by those from this world: perhaps you were correct all along, and the tale told by Aurora is only a distraction meant to take your attention away from something else entirely. How can you truly know, when it appears that Aurora also doesn't have that information? What source will you believe: your own instincts, or others?
❬ HIDDEN AGENDA ❭
On the morning of July 11th, Aurora makes her announcement: Etrayans are to travel to a planet called Earth, with a specific goal to accomplish during their time planet-side. A cosmic anomaly is warping the moral compasses of Earth's residences. Those who were known for their great deeds and heroic feats are turning authoritarian, or possibly downright evil. On the opposite end, the attitudes of criminals is also... shifting. Some have gone from merciless killing machines to self-sacrificial heroes, pushing themselves to the battlefront in order to protect those weaker than them. The thing is? No one truly knows why this is happening. Some whose moral alignments are more pragmatic don't seem to be effected by the change, but have noticed it happening around them. School bullies are becoming teachers pets. Teachers pets are becoming merciless bullies. Something is truly wrong here, and no one knows how to fix it. Many may recognize the planet: Earth, in the year 2025, with all the normal amenities that may be found in the current day. However, there aren't just the expected ordinary human beings traveling the planet. Caped crusaders, vigilantes, and beings from other planets wander the streets freely. Superhuman capabilities aren't necessarily common, but it seems that a good 10-15% of those residing on Earth have some sort of extraordinary ability. Some use it to benefit the world, going by names such as Sublime and flying around the planet at superhuman speeds to save ships from odd creatures that have resurfaced in the ocean determined to take out anything that disturbs it's peace. Some use it to benefit themselves, using their ability to become incorporeal to pickpocket others, steal from banks, and enrich themselves and those around them by robbing others of their hard-earned funds. Upon arriving planet-side on July 18th, each Etrayan is assigned two additional identities: their heroic alter-ego, as well as a common name to blend in with the crowd. Think Superman and Clark Kent. In addition to their names, they will find that their arrival on this Earth may have granted them new capabilities - perhaps someone without abilities is now able to fly, or someone who came to Etraya with their own set of extraordinary abilities now has something new to help with. Their newly given identities align with these newfound abilities, if they have them. For those who arrive just as they were - well. There are plenty of heroes without extra capabilities that manage in the field just fine, they can figure it out. Maybe they are the eyes in the sky, leaders that direct heroes through communicators, or someone who inherited more money than they could ever truly use in a lifetime that they can redirect to building fun new toys. Their goal? To search this world for the cosmic anomaly, and "fix" it. Aurora doesn't have further details, nor can she provide any helpful clues as to what it may look like. This is up to them, the citizens of Etraya, to discern. The world is a big place, and there's countless places such a thing could hide, especially given they're not sure what, exactly, they're looking for. Worse still: they're on a time crunch. This mission will end on August 15th, giving them four weeks to find it and get out. If it's found and resolved earlier, all the better! It gives them time to repair some of the damage done.
❬ MORALITY SHIFT ❭
While Etrayans are being sent to this Earth to find and fix the issue that is causing difficulties with this Earth's population, they'll find that some of them are also affected. Players are welcome to decide that their characters have suddenly had a morality shift of their own - perhaps those who are more inclined to criminal activity suddenly find themselves wanting to do good, or vice versa. This is fully optional, and any effects would clear up upon their return to Etraya. This would also hit them significantly less hard than it does those who are native to this world! Please keep this in mind when playing with it. The changes would get more significant over time, meaning it would start very subtly. Some characters will find themselves arriving in San Francisco. This city has become a kind of hub for heroes working outside of the United States. There is a massive building off the coastline known as the League of Heroes. This is run by a superhero known as Sublime. His backstory as an alien from a far away planet who arrived here as a young child and was raised by caring parents is well-known. Sorry, Superman, we're borrowing from you a little. On the flip side, others will be arriving in Palo Alto where there is a large hub of villains. They have their own headquarters, a building that looks like an average office space called Veil and Venture, but once one gets off the lobby floor, it becomes clear it's anything but. This place is run by a woman named Lynn Reed, better known as Manifesto. Mods can assign identities here if you'd like, or players can choose their own. This includes their starting locations, and whether they're hero-coded or villain-coded. Characters who are under sixteen will need to reside with a guardian. Those between sixteen and eighteen may be given one if Aurora feels as if they require someone to look out for them. We'll be leaving this up to players! For those with a guardian: Aurora will be giving legal custody of them to another player character - this can be chosen by the players. Additionally characters can be housed together in roommate situations, or assigned as "siblings", they may be given civilian identities that are married to one another, etc. Please feel free to make up little family units that feel most fun to you! If you ask the mods to assign identities, please let us know if you'd like your character to get their own little family unit or not. We will be providing a world-ending event for characters to confront on the mission log, but characters are welcome to use their newfound abilities and status as heroes to stop bank robberies, save kidnapped victims, stop the Puzzler by solving his puzzles, or confront villains or heroes-turned-villains in whatever capacity you'd like! Please consider this more of a free for all where there is plenty of space to play in and countless things for characters to get up to. Damage done to this Earth does not need to be checked by the mods, as long as they're outside of San Francisco and Palo Alto, given those are the main locations we'll be focusing on for this mission.
❬ MISSION NOTES ❭
📌 — This Earth heavily resembles current-day Earth. All cities will be what we would find on the map of our Earth - meaning, there is no Gotham, or any fictional cities in play. Players are free to create their own locations within locations! We won't be monitoring this closely, and want to give players free reign to play with the environment around them as they would like. 📌 — You may notice that this plotting post includes a lot of overview of the mission, but not the gritty details. We want to note that this is wholly intentional! We're looking to see what you, our players, are most interested in interacting with. This will help us build the log to suit your interests. If you have any questions or want to offer some suggestions, please feel free to do so under mission suggestions. We also have our mission queries header for any questions you may have! 📌 — Powers gained on this new Earth will be available to be regained through activity points after characters are back on Etraya. They will cost 30 points.

Mission Plans: Being host to the cosmic anamoly 🌟
Hello, all! Nate is here to both hide/protect and spread the cosmic anamoly's influence throughout this Earth and all its inhabitants and is looking for recruits to help him on this purpose he didn't even know he had! The anamoly is going to be burrowing its way inside his soul, more or less, as a means to hide and protect itself from everyone and use Nate's powers to amplify its own since Nate is a bit of a powerhouse with his telepathy and what easier way to spread its influence than through a guy who can get into your head anywhere in the world? 💦
Nate is going to end up feeling protective of the anamoly and its influence and use his own methods to keep it safe from those looking to stop it. Sorry, Aurora. He'll also be looking to influence others into protecting the anamoly and help in spreading its influence throughout the Earth.
So what does this mean? Currently, if you're looking to have your character's morality shift a little harder and stronger, Nate can help influence that. No baby steps here. You want to go to the extreme on the other side? Nate will put you there. 😌 Also, if you're looking to solve the mystery of the cosmic anamoly and even come to figure out Nate is the host for it, we can do that, too. I will say there is the potential for Nate to become Final Boss Material whenever the cat's out of the bag and depending who's involved, but I would prefer that and the figuring out Nate is the host to be a bit of a slower build up and not happen so quickly into the mission. Also, should that happen, there's the possibility for those to side with him and the anamoly and protect him/the anamoly as well if we want some PVP going on. Nate will be very adamant about getting you to see the anamoly's point of view. But, again, open to seeing how it all plays out and if it should even get to that level.
If you have any questions or interests in touching this plot, I'll do my best to see what we can set up and how it might all pan out. I'm just here to have Nate be the physical target for those looking to figure out the cosmic anamoly. 👍

Hope is going full on switching of morals, so sign her up for a crash course.

She's switching to being bad, right? Nate could definitely push her to the extreme or close if you want.

if it comes down to it, scott would probably try to at least protect nate against others because he's a dumb teen and doesn't want to see him hurt again.
unless he's too busy being mind-controlled by viktor???? PLANS UP IN THE AIR TBH

(He would be looking into who shifted where. Which that alone will take a while to sort out specifics. Where it started and so on.) If it did come to fight, he would try to talk to Nate and wake him up to the fact he is being influenced. Not alone because he absolutely isn’t stupid. Just letting you know there’s one on Team Wake Up Nate.

As I said to Jayce's player, the more we get into the mission, the more info will be able to appear regarding the anamoly that they can definitely pick up on and use in determining what's going on or how this happened. 👍

.................. everything is feeling off and the anomaly traces are legitmately all over the place being hot spots
just to be part of whatever at the end going I Knew Something Was Weird! not that it was weird with you, person I don't know, but Something!
she's also more the kind to see if she can help... take him out without killing, and her powers do work as nullification if that's something that wants to be used/played with toward the end of the month. just let me know! she'd need someone else to do the interesting stuff and to get her close, but resonance suppresses innate abilities just like it can enhance them, which can poooossibly also target the anomaly within him and let him gain more of his own mind back (but only if you personally want to play with that in late game) for Interesting Twists and his cast/cr to help him out more significantly

I'm cool with her "getting an off feeling" or just "weird feeling" in general like The Vibes Are Off And I Don't Know Why. Nate may take gentle offense to her in general with being a power nullifier if he finds out because He Don't Like That but, yanno. What mutant does? But please feel free to fry squint at him as time goes on esp because his attitude will be changing a lot more quicker than those around him.

This would begin with making items that people could use to potentially help to save/stop people (player characters, as they prefer), but then spreading the idea to some larger area of effect, potentially using some form of technology in one of the two main cities.
I was thinking this would happen towards the "end" of the mission, either before or during when people might know what's up with Nate, though it doesn't have to ride on trying to target him -- it's just about trying to cancel out the influence. But I think word would obviously get out about this happening, and also end up potentially reaching Nate, and there could be a possible clash involving Nate and those under his and the anomaly's control, and those trying to help put out this wider barrier/area effect to nullify/dampen the morality shift effect to get rid of it.
It could give the opportunity for people to do something with the anomaly without directly facing Nate, maybe some nerd types could work on a thing, there could be NPC fights for players trying to protect the site of the weapon for the nullifier -- and obviously, people would be needed to distract Nate. It's an idea I'd love to open to people, if you were cool with this!

There's some lore concerning the anamoly and where it came from/what happened that I'm hesitant to drop only because of another player going to be coming into that info separately, but. Hopefully that will come to light for those looking to investigate it more.

Ideally a piece of information that Sleipnir can find out and remove before Accelerator can find it. This could be something given to him via an information broker where it was going to the highest bidder and Sleipnir just so happened to nail it down.
Because Accelerator is gonna do a little murder in trying to get it from him. :)

There's another player separately going to be coming into some info regarding the anamoly that I imagine will be shared with those who are looking to investigate it. Or else I can come up with something concerning Nate and the anamoly even if it's "rumored intel" if you'd rather?
